Epic Heroes typically are stronger, braver & more powerful than their contemporaries. They are strongly identified with their people, and are selfless—willing to lay down their life to save others. They often go on a journey and come from royalty or high society….

Other Epic Heroes…
Anti Heroes are typically heroes that don’t meet the standard definition of a hero. They sometimes seem like perhaps a villain or a rogue, and although they have a “heart of gold” they are often a diamond in the rough…many times they are rebelling against something and it turns out to be for the good in the long run…
Gothic Heroes are typically trapped in gloom. They are “noble in rebellion” but “pathetic in destiny.” In other words, they try to do something for a good/noble cause but it doesn’t really work out for them…very depressing indeed. Sometimes referred to as a Byronic hero.
Tragic Heroes are just that—tragic. They aren’t usually very likable and their story is one of sadness and failure. They start out in a lofty position (royalty, etc) and because of poor choices they make & a key character flaw, they end up destroying themselves…
