Built in 1826 by the noble Avigni Leonardo. In 1838 a plaque was applied on the occasion of the visit of the Emperor of Austria Ferdinand of Habsburg.

The restoration works were carried out in 1993 with a grant from the consortium for the development of the production and distribution Viadana.

It was built in order to facilitate communication between the interior of the castle and the villages of Viadana. Shortly thereafter, the Porta Nuova, which also had two side arches for pedestrians, is passed into the property of the municipality with the commitment to keep it forever.
