This brochure illustrates some of the very many standard items of stonework produced by us today. Established in 1953, Chilstone’slong history has enabled us to perfect areconstituted stone with a superb texture,making it almost indistinguishable fromquarried stone.

Our stone is still entirely hand made by craftsmen,giving us the kind of control during the productionprocess which enables us to readily adapt our standarditems to your design requirements. We are alwayspleased to advise on how to realise your ideas inChilstone Stone.

OURMATERIAL

CHILSTONE reproduce, with complete accuracy and attentionto detail, some of the most beautiful and elegant architecturalstonework in the world.

Natural Chilstone is midway between Portland and Bath stone in colourand weathers to an antique patina. However it can be produced in avariety of colours for restoration work or special schemes.We are also able to colour-match to suit your requirements.

Our Production Manager closely supervises themanufacture ensuring attention to detail throughout.All finished items are inspected by our QualityControl Manager.

In addition to our existing range, our workshopspecialise in copying and originating architecturaldetails to customers' requirements. At Chilstone,‘specials’ are a specialty.

This service operates over a comprehensive field, from the purely domestic interior and garden, topublic buildings and settings, such as hotels, parksand churches.

STRENGTHAND REINFORCEMENT

Materials

• Homogenous throughout, which makes itand ideal material for onsite cutting.

• Natural aggregates to BS882

• Admixtures: water reducing agents to BS 5075, pigments to BS1014

• Compressive strength to BS1217

• Reinforcement stainless steel to a minimumcoverage of 20mm (or two bar diameters)

LOAD BEARING ANDREINFORCEMENT

• All our Stone may be fitted perfectly toexiting RC beams with tolerances wellinside current Building Regulations.

• For more information, contact our technicaldepartment who will advise on applicationsand provide every assistance to ensurecomponents are produced to give theoptimum performance over many years.

Chilstone has the ability to cast in specialistfixings and reinforcement, enabling thestonework to perform in a structural mannerand to give increased strength. Channels,sockets, bars and lifting eyes from majormanufacturers are all available. We can alsomake to your engineer’s specification.

Balustrade

Our balustrade has been independently testedand withstands a lateral loading of 0.36KN/mrun at 1.1 metres. It is made with acontinuous stainless steel rod through thecentre, providing the structural integrity andstrength to satisfy Building Regulations.

Environment Policy

• Chilstone is handmade except for mechanicalmixing.

• There is no byproduct of our process, nor arenoxious gases emitted.

• All moulds are made using timber fromsustainable forests.

• Waste is recycled as hardcore making theproduct entirely environmentally friendly

Our head and base rail is supplied in standard lengths for you to cut on site to your requirements.

Balusters are reinforced with stainless steel rod throughout theirlength, for added strength and structural integrity.

The rod projects top and bottom and acts as a pin. Informationsheet on request.
