PINES TOWER The limit, the topography and the pavilion are three projects related to the same area, the Pines tower’s square in the center of Montpellier. The issue here was to develop a forgotten public place with an ephemeral and contemporary architecture that would adapt to the steep of the place.
THE LIMIT THE TOPOGRAHPY On the same principle than the limit and being a link to it, the topography form a twenty f ive square meters space. Situated at the highest point of traf ic in the square, it invites the passer-by to sit or lie down in more or less intimit spaces while enjoying different views. This specif ic form seperate the path from the sitting spots by relieving some of the pressure applied to the slivers of wood, making it more f lexible and comfor table.
Made of multiple slivers of wood, this limit offers different possibilites to sit (sat down, lied down, half stood up, half lied down) and establish a link between the inside and the oustide of the square. Several steel rods are crossing the slivers of wood and the wooden ledges (inbetween two of those) in order to apply pressure to it and therefore create the structure. It is composed of two additional modules.

PAVILION OF EXHIBITIONThe issue of this pavilion was to awake the curiosity of the passers-by through its shape. The idea was to invite them into a narrow black box where the only source of light would come from the ceiling. This zenithal source of light enlights a thin sheet of steel, being the suppor t of photographies, therefore creating a path that would guide the passers-by. The goal of this scenography is to lead them to the highest ground, the view canon. The passer-by looks at the exposure on a sheet of steel until he is exposed himself on a sheet from where he can gaze upon a framed view, a picture of the square, led by the pavilion itself.

PATION HOUSE in Castelnau This individual house project is meant for a four to f ive members family and takes place in the city of Castelnau in the outskir ts of Montpellier. Bordered by a major traff ic route, the idea of this project was to create a sound wall by interlocking boxes into boxes in order to create a patio. The goal here was to withdraw into oneself in order to avoid the visual and noise pollution while creating architectural views inside of the project itself.

Longitudinal Section
On a f ield of f ifteen meters in width by sixty meters in length, situated in Carnon along the shore, the goal was to f it four individual houses, a T2, a T3, a T4 and a T5.
My bias was to raise four rectangle shaped volumes on stilts in order to free a public space for sharing and conviviality. Those volumes are obtained by an addition or a removal of materials according to the surface desired. Thanks to this method and an appropriate positioning of the buildings, I was able to free in each bed room and living room a view over the sea.
Moreover, the idea of lifting those volumes on stilts allowed me to create three distinct spaces :
-An intimite space, the housing, elevated and offering a stunning view over the sea.-An half intimite space below each volume, made of slivers of wood, offering an idividual storage place on ground f loor. -A public space for gathering and sharing accentuated by a topography in stripes that creates f lowerboxes, benches, spaces to sit and lie down and that marks out the different spaces. This topograhpy covers the parking and each housing has a direct access to its ground f loor.

The subject was to deal with a twelve thousand square meters space on which four thousand square meters were the abbey itself. This large stature project for a S5 studio was a real challenge. My bias was to refurbish the whole abbey by giving to it several functions such as a hostel, a restaurant, a ressource and research center, a place of ar tistic creation and a tourism off ice. Then I created an experimental and conceptual architectural object. This architecture was made of a dozen of boxes, covered by a translucent material, interlocking one into one another. Those boxes were intended to the ar tistic zone. The concept was to have a building that would catch up day lights in order to illuminate the ar tistic works with a dim light. During the night, ar tif ical lights would take over in order to also illuminate a plubic space considered as a topography. The building being raised up upon a dark and opaque material, the boxes would appear like they were f loating in the air.

This collective housing project is situated on a seven hundred square meters area nearby Montpellier’s train station. We had to respect the PLU regulations of this area.
The concept was to limit the impact on the ground with cantilevered buildings in order to free a large green space, the garden. Each entry of the area (either by foot or by car) gives a view of this collective space of gathering and sharing. The idea was to give as much as possible view on this space as much for the housing than the traff ic spaces. The three boxes are connected by perforated footbridges so the light would be able to reach the f loors below.
The R3 housing benef its of an half-level and the perforated rooftop allows to free patios. Every housing has accordion bay windows and the T3 and T4 have modular par titions allowing to create links with the outdoor spaces.

Workshop/ Footbridge: Pirouette, cacahuète Exploring a new material
For this edition of the workshop footbridge, we chose to consider a new material in our ref lections, the cardboard. A new material is at the same time : sensitiv qualities to discover, fonctionnal performances to evaluate and new manufacturing process.
We devided our work in two phases : the design one took place at the ENSA Montpellier (three days) whereas the realization one was held at the Grands Ateliers (f ive days).
The selected project sketch was modif ied in order to decompose the ten meters length footbridge into f ive par ts. Based upon a pseudo-irregularity (some par ts were identical), the openwork tube principle allowed the setting up of eff icient assembly solutions without any strong adhesive, thanks to the special features of the materials involved (honeycomb cardboard, kaft paper). The « warmth » of the material invited us, one after another, to walk this path barefoot, almost like an inner path…
This workshop was co-supervised by Athur Lebée, from l’Ecole des Ponts, and with the intercession of Patrice Barthès, choreographer at l’ENSA Montpellier.
