Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6 I like to research about politics, theology, history, culture, anthropology, sociology, technology,

literature, science, engineering, biology, engineering, mathematics, and many other subjects. Yet, at

times, I like to research esoteric issues and things of that nature. This is one of those times. I like to

understand the mysteries of the Universe. Architecture is important to know, study, and

understand. It has existed for thousands of years. There are complex reasons for architecture to

exist or to be formulated. In life, we see that corporations and material objects are not superior to

the human mind and the human spirit. There is the intrinsic value of the human life. Human life is

superior to imperialism, bigotry, and ignorance. With the recent events going on in the Universe,

we certainly need to reject mass consumption and materialism. These items are preventing what

America & the rest of the world has its potential to become. We are the generation that has

discovered more of the secrets behind much architecture spanning the four corners of the world.

Many famous buildings are built on ley lines. Many ancient human beings believe that ley lines have

spiritual power and many cities and buildings are built on them to harness energy, etc.

The Sochi Complex

Also, the Sochi Winter Olympic complex is famous too for many reasons. The 2014 Winter Olympics

have gone and past. Numerous great athletics performed amazing feats. First, the symbolism must

be shown about the original ceremony and other things about the event. The 2014 Winter Olympic

Games has the Russian built a huge Olympic Stadium. It shows the history of Russia via various

symbolism and scenes. There was the huge double headed eagle that was splashed across the

screen among other various Russia symbols. One of the symbols was the double headed eagle. The

double headed eagle existed for thousands of years. It was famous for its usage in the Byzantine

Empire and it was been used in the ancient secrets of the mysteries. The Scottish Rite of

Freemasonry is famous for incorporating the double headed eagle and Russian Coat of Arms. The

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry came about centuries ago. They are very common in the United States

of America and they have 33rd

Degrees in the States.

Page 3: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

This archaeological image of the double headed eagle is found in the ancient Hittite civilization

(found in modern day Turkey) dating from ca. 20th

century to the 13th

century B.C.). The Hittite

image is found on the left, while the double headed eagle found in the opening ceremony of the

2014 Winter Olympics is found on the right.

The double headed eagle represents the law of opposites or balance in equilibrium:

“…The double headed-eagle, as the ensign of the Alchemical Rebus or Stone of the Phillsophers, symbolizes this process, the magnum opus or Great Work of spiritual regeneration. Through its unification of opposites and association with alchemical Fire, the path of regeneration and ascent up the Tree of Life is indicated…” (32nd Degree Freemason’s Gregory H. Peters’ “Solve et Coagula: Alchemical symbolism of the Double-Headed Eagle).

In the ancient doctrines of the mystery schools, human and Nature want to be in balance among

opposites as a means for life to have completion and enlightenment. The two heads in the doubled

headed eagle image acts as one. The three horses in the opening ceremony were symbolic of the

troika bird or a famous cultural icon of Russia. The horses pull a sun. There ceremony shows the

history of the Soviet Union as gears in motion. The whole Fisht Olympic Stadium is named after

Mount Fisht. It has a 40,000 person capacity. The stadium was created by Populous and British

design consultancy Buro Happold. The stadium's walls and roof are one continuous glass surface.

They are designed to reflect sunlight off the sea during the day. It was opened in 2013 and it cost

$779 million to build the stadium. In October 2013, the Central Bank of Russia issued a

commemorative 100 ruble note. This was a hundred days before the start of the winter Olympic

Games in Sochi. The blue tinted banknote depicts a flying snowboarder on one side, and on the

other the Fisht Olympic Stadium and a firebird. The location of the Sochi Olympics is taking place in

the Caucasus Mountains. We know the historical significance of those mountains. Now, the Sochi

mascots are called Snowflake and Ray of Light.

The 2014 Winter Olympics advanced a mythical story on how both mascots came about. According

to the Winter Olympics’s website, here is the fictional story of these 2 beings: “…Ray Of Light flew

down to Earth from a planet where it was always hot. His journey was full of challenges. After he landed he faced a new and unknown planet where everything was different compared to his

Page 4: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

home. Everything on the Earth was new to him: cold winters, snow and winds, and of course unknown people around him. Ray Of Light looked very different from the people on Earth as well. He had amber skin, sparks in his wide eyes and hair that looked like flames. But these differences were only external. Ray Of Light was so nice and kind to everyone, and he was always ready to help and support the people around him. Very soon, people understood that the difference between Ray Of Light and the people on the Earth was based purely on appearances and that it was just people’s initial perceptions that had led them to believe that there were great differences. The more they interacted, the more they discovered that they were much more similar then they had thought at the beginning…” The Snowflake character has a six pointed hexagram attached to it. The Hexagram is a very ancient symbol. It refers to the hermetic concept of the union of heaven and Earth. The six pointed hexagram is found in the Kabbalah, Crowley’s Thelema, and other places globally. Freemasonry interprets the Hexagram in the following terms: “…"The interlacing triangles or deltas symbolize the union of the two principles or forces, the active and passive, male and female, pervading the universe ... The two triangles, one white and the other black, interlacing, typify the mingling of apparent opposites in nature, darkness and light, error and truth, ignorance and wisdom, evil and good, throughout human life." – Albert G. Mackey: Encyclopedia of Freemasonry

There is a coin called Prometheus, which has tons of esoteric meaning. Prometheus in legend stole

fire from Mount Olympics and gave it to the people. A commemorative coin of copper-nickel with a

denomination of 25 roubles featuring mascots of the XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi – Ray of

Light and Snowflake – will also be released. Prometheus is said to be chained in the Caucasus

Mountains. Also, in ancient Greek mythology, Prometheus is a Titan (or a primeval group of deities

that came before the Olympians). In legend, he stole fire from the gods as a means to give it to

humanity. The statue of Prometheus is displayed in Rockefeller Center (as the Rockefeller family

historically has ties to banking, oil, and other foundations too). In the occult tradition, humans must

have occult knowledge in order to achieve enlightenment or godhood. Not to mention that the

countdown Sochi clock is triangular in shape looking similar to a Pyramid. Many other researchers

have found out about the Merkahah connection to the ceremony.

New Masonic Temple of St. Louis

Architecture is important in the world. There is the famous New Masonic Temple in St. Louis,

Missouri. It was built in 1926. It has many images that deal with Classical Revival architecture, which

deals with many buildings built for Freemason meeting places. It looks very similar to the House of

the Temple building in Washington, D.C. and it has great differences as well. The location is

designated as a city landmark. Visitors can go into the temple, but only on the days when a meeting

is held. The Pear Tree Inn Union Station -St. Louis and Courtyard St. Louis Downtown are the closet

hotels to the New Masonic Temple. The Temple builders' studied Greek, Roman, and Gothic

modernist architecture before settling on the Grecian model. We know that the temple's exterior is

of the Greek Ionic style with its simple lines, towering proportions, and overall monumental size.

The top of the temple was influenced by the Parthenon of Greece (that celebrated the goddess

Athena. Athena is the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom. She wears a shield and holds a spear).

There are columns that line the Lindell Street entrance to the temple. The lower parts of the

exterior have other items as well. They are adorned with images of compasses, squares, and other

Masonic emblems. There are two Latin phrases and an image of Mercury. Mercury is the messenger

of the ancient Roman gods. Mercury is mythology gave light to the Earth. There are a sphinx and a

few griffins on the building. The griffins are found on the ends of the south pediment and the

corners of the second terrace. All of these features make the New Masonic Temple a very

prominent building and have placed it amongst the greatest buildings in the world. It is a famous

building in the city of St. Louis. It was built in the 1920's. The temple has stood the test of time and

is very durable architecturally.

Page 6: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

This is one picture of the New Masonic Temple of St. Louis. It has much symbolism.

The picture above has a wreath surrounding the square and compass image. The square and compass image is one of the most famous, identifiable images of Freemasonry. To Freemasons, the square and compass represents the goals of the Freemason. The image is shown in Masonic rituals as a means to teach lesson. Duncan's Masonic Monitor of 1866 explains them as: "The square, to square our actions; The compasses, to circumscribe and keep us within bounds with all mankind” (Malcolm C. Duncan (2004). Duncan's Masonic Ritual and Monitor. Whitefish, MT: Kessinger Publishing. p. 36. ISBN 978-1-4179-1113-4). There are many other meanings for the square and compass too (like the merging of the masculine and feminine principles to create generation). The window on the bottom shows the image that looks similar to sacred geometry with the patterns. Anno Domini is Latin for in the year of the Lord. The letters of MCMXXIV refers to the year 1924 when the Scottish Rite Cathedral in St. Louis was finally built. What is “Anno Lucis” phrase as found on the building? Anno Lucis is found in Freemasonry. It is Latin for Year of Light. It is a dating system for the Masons and they add 4,000 years to the Gregorian calendar year. For example, the year of 2014 would be 2014 Anno Lucis. AEDIFICATVM means dedication. So, we see that the Latin phrases means in English that this building was dedicated in the year of 1924. *For the record: I have made my views on Freemasonry explicitly clear. I don’t agree with

Freemasonry at all for religious, social, political, and moral reasons. Freemasonry uses death

related oaths and they teach deception among its lower level members as shown in this quotation

from the late 33rd

Degree Freemason Albert Pike:

Page 7: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

“…The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple. Part of the symbols are

displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not

intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands

them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry." (Albert Pike’s

“Morals and Dogma,” on p.819)

“Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its

secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and

misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled; to conceal the

Truth, which it calls Light, from them, and to draw them away from it.” [SOURCE: Albert Pike,

“Morals and Dogma,” page 104].

Another source on Freemasonry is the following:

"You must conceal all the crimes of your brother Masons, except murder and treason, and these

only at your own option, and should you be summoned as a witness against a brother Mason be

always sure to shield him. Prevaricate [falsify], don't tell the whole truth in his case, keep his

secrets, forget the most important points. It may be perjury to do this, it is true, but you're

keeping your obligations, and remember if you live up to your obligation strictly, you'll be free

from sin." (Edmond Ronayne, "Masonic Handbook," page 183)

Freemason J. D. Buck wrote the following words: “…A Mason may discriminate in favor of a

Brother Mason. Other things equal, he may give him the preference as he would a brother by the

ties of kinship and of blood…” (J. D. Buck, The Genius of Freemasonry, Vol. I, Chicago Indo-

American Book Co. 1914, p. 75). Freemasonry in essence has an outer face and an inner face of

secrecy as written by 33rd

Degree Freemason Manly P. Hall:

"Freemasonry is a fraternity within a fraternity -- an outer organization concealing an inner

brotherhood of the elect ... it is necessary to establish the existence of these two separate and yet

interdependent orders, the one visible and the other invisible. The visible society is a splendid

camaraderie of 'free and accepted' men enjoined to devote themselves to ethical, educational,

fraternal, patriotic, and humanitarian concerns. The invisible society is a secret and most August

[defined as 'of majestic dignity, grandeur'] fraternity whose members are dedicated to the service

of a mysterious arcannum arcandrum [defined as 'a secret, a mystery']." [Hall, Lectures on

Ancient Philosophy, p. 433]. In essence, Freemasonry is the expression of the Mysteries in the

modern era and Masons only want people to believe in one God to join (among other

requirements). Freemasonry is heavily linked to the Kabbalah as admitted by Masons Albert Pike

and J. D. Buck. So, folks know what the deal is.

*Also, I want to be clear that I don’t believe that all Freemasons should be scapegoated for all

evils in the world. Masons should not be persecuted or mistreated. Human beings ought to have

the freedom of conscience and the freedom of expression. They should not be disrespected.

We should live in a world where there can be disagreement without unfair hatred or violence. I

Page 8: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

have peaceful dissent with the Order of Freemasonry, but all members of the human family

(Mason or non-Mason) should have basic human rights unequivocally and without

exception.

I am an independent thinking human being and I don’t need secret, perverted oaths or secret proceedings as a means to cause me to improve my spirituality. I can just think on what is righteous and follow the real

truth.

London, United Kingdom

One of the most interesting architecture images are found in London, UK. London itself has been

influenced by esoteric orders for centuries. London plays an important role in the outline of

world international power too. London is home to numerous esoteric sites. First, it is important to

know some of its ancient history. For thousands of years, settlements have existed in London

(which surrounds the River Thames). During the ancient times, megalithic societies build stone

circles and burial mounds. There were more sophisticated settlements and hill forts constructed

during the Iron Age. Primrose Hill is one remnant of a megalithic location in London. London

was called Caerlundein after King Lud from the 1st century B.C. The Romans named it

Londinium and then it has been called London. The ancient Romans invaded London in ca. 54

B.C. via Julius Caesar and his soldiers. They encountered the Druids. Julius Caesar said that the

Druids did divine worship, human sacrifice, and the burning of prisoners in the “wicker men.”

The Druids were heavily pagans and they worshipped Nature. From the events of Queen

Boudicca, etc. the ancient Romans and the Druids constantly fought each other. The Knights

Page 9: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

Templar had a base in London too. Dr. John Dee believed in the occult and advised Queen

Elizabeth to grow the British Empire. The Great Fire of 1666 destroyed over 13,000 buildings in

London. Then, it had to be rebuilt. Christopher Wren helped to rebuild much of London. He was

one of the acclaimed English architects in history. He helped to rebuild 52 churches in the City

of London. He was educated in Latin and Aristotelian physics at the University of Oxford. He

was an astronomer, geometer, and mathematician-physicist. He was a founder of the Royal

Society. There is the debate whether Christopher Wren was a Freemason or not. Evidence from

two obituaries and Aubrey's memoirs, with supporting materials, that he did indeed attend the

closed meeting in 1691, probably of the Lodge of Antiquity, but that there is nothing to suggest

that he was ever a Grand Officer as claimed by Anderson.

He or Christopher Wren wanted London’s new buildings to be set 2,000 cubits apart. 2,000

cubits or 23 of a mile represent the distance from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem. This was the

furthest a Jewish person was allowed to walk during the Sabbath according to tradition. He

inspired the creation of Saint Paul’s Cathedral, which not surprisingly is aligned 2,000 cubits

from Temple Bar to the West and 2,000 cubits from St Dunstan’s in the East. According to

Andrew Gough, “…Other buildings erected after the fire, such as the Monument and Nelson’s

Column, were either designed with occult-inspired dimensions or aligned to the solstices.

Further, Wren’s student Nicholas Hawksmoor followed in the occult tradition by placing

Egyptian obelisks on top of churches, forming, in the estimations of some, a pentagram on the

ground across London. …”

St. Paul’s Cathedral was created in the English Baroque style. What is that? It is a type of

architecture that begin in the 16th

century from Italy. Its style includes the dramatic usage of light

(like strong light and shade contrasts), it used an external façade that wants to display a dramatic

central projection, oval forms are found in churches too. It was an unique style of architecture. It

was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962. It stands at 365 feet high. Its dome is also

among the highest in the world. It carried many services including funerals of well known human

beings like Lord Nelson (the Duke of Wellington), Winston Churchill, and Margaret Thatcher.

Even the wedding of Prince Charles of Wales and the late Princess Diana Spencer occurred in St.

Paul’s Cathedral.

Page 10: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

There obelisk in London is called the London Cleopatra needle too. We know that the obelisk

from the ancient capital of Heliopolis was installed on the south bank of the Thames. Andrew

Gough also wrote that: “…Cleopatra’s Needle, as the London obelisk is known, is flanked by

two replica sphinxes that appear to guard the ancient structure. In fact, sphinxes adorn the whole

of London’s Embankment, including armrests on the benches along the Thames…” The ruler of

Egypt and Sudan named Muhammad Ali presented the obelisk to the United Kingdom in 1819. It

was about the commemoration of the victories of Lord Nelson at the Battle of the Nile and Sir

Ralph Abercomby at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801. So, this situation is about the evil

celebrating of imperialist conquests, which is disgraceful. The obelisk was in Alexandria until

1877. Sir William James Erasmus Wilson (an anatomist and dermatologist) sponsored its

transportation to London at a cost of some £10,000 (a very considerable sum in those days). It

was dug out of the sand in which it had been buried for nearly 2,000 years and was encased in a

great iron cylinder, 92 feet (28 m) long and 16 feet (4.9 m) in diameter, designed by the engineer

John Dixon and dubbed Cleopatra, to be commanded by Captain Carter. Many people have died

in the voyage of the obelisk from Egypt to London. The obelisk is found in relation to the

Mystery Schools for thousands of years. The Ancient Egyptians called the obelisk “tekhenu.”

During the 19th century to the present, ancient Egyptian culture (including the obelisk)

influenced architecture and cemetery art globally from Europe to the States. This truth is

documented in the book entitled, “The revival Styles in American Memorial Art” by McDowell

and Meyer. To the ancients, the obelisk represented the sun god Ra (some view it as related from

the natural phenomena associated with the sun too). According to the scholar James Henry

Breasted in his “Development of Religion and Thought in Ancient Egypt” from 1912:

Page 11: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

“…The pyramid form may be explained by an examination of the familiar obelisk form. The obelisk, as is commonly known, is a symbol sacred to the Sun-god. So far as I am aware, however, little significance has heretofore been attached to the fact that

the especially sacred portion of the obelisk is the pyramidal apex with which it is surmounted…”

Today, Cleopatra’s Needle is flanked by two Egyptian looking sphinxes cast from bronze. The

hieroglyphic inscriptions on the sphinxes are netjer nefer men-kheper-re di ankh (the good god,

Thuthmosis III given life). These Sphinxes appear to be looking at the Needle rather than

guarding it. This is due to the Sphinxes' improper or backwards installation. The Embankment

has other Egyptian flourishes, such as buxom winged sphinxes on the armrests of benches. The

sphinx in this context represents guards. According to the LA Central Library website, it shows

an interesting view of the meaning of their sphinxes as the hidden mysteries of knowledge and

guard civilization. There are other interpretations of the meaning of the sphinx too. Symbols and

images can have multiple meanings among the human family.

So, occult traditions are very much powerful in London then and now.

Page 12: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

More Mysteries about Architecture Architecture is known for its embrace of shapes, patterns, etc. Some who do architecture know fully about sacred geometry. In sacred geometry, 6 is the number of structure. The hexagram is used for structure in all scales of the Universe (from the microcosm to the macrocosm). It is interesting to note that hexagonal shapes are found in snowflakes and many crystals others than ice have hexagonal crystal systems. The gaseous planet Saturn has hexagonal clouds on its north pole discovered by Voyager 1 in 1977 and verified again in 2006 by the Cassini spacecraft. This means that the hexagon is a persistent structure on the surface of the planet Saturn. In the microcosm, living creatures like bees create hexagonal houses and birthing chambers for their young. Hexagonal space frame make solid structures. In sacred geometry, the number 5 refers to the number of life. We see that the Pentagram encodes the golden number of Phi fractally. 6/5 times Phi squared equals to about Pi. The patterns of the Hexagram and the Pentagram are related to each other. Adenine is one of the four bases that code for all life in deoxyribonucleic acid (or DNA). Adenine's molecular structure is based on a hexagonal ring bonded to a pentagonal ring. Even the DMT molecule has the molecular structure of a hexagonal ring bonded to a pentagonal ring. Melatonin is secreted by the pinecone shaped pineal gland in the center of the human brain. The core of this molecule yet again is a pentagonal ring bonded to a hexagonal ring. Hermetic symbolism is also found in Hermetic Renaissance Art. We know about the symbolism found in the original planning of Washington, D.C. One planner of the map of D.C. was the Freemason Pierre L’Enfant. Sacred geometry is very complex. Years ago, I only knew a few things about it. As I have gotten older, I know more about it. The patterns of 6 and 5 exist in many structures of the world. For example, St. Paul’s Cathedral is 555 feet long if you include its entrance steps. That is 6600 inches according to Steven Skinner’s book entitled, “Sacred Geometry: Deciphering the Code.” St. Paul's architect, Sir Christopher Wren, also encoded the solar 365 in the height of the cross on top of the dome as measured in English feet. The Washington Monument has the height of 555 feet as well. John Martineau's superb A Little Book of Coincidence has a page about a discovery made by Alex Geddes which relates the products of mean orbital radii of planets in our solar system through a series of elegant ratios. Some believe that 6/5 is like a universal code built into the establishment of the Universe from

Page 13: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

the snowflake, the Earth, and to the rest of the Universe. The exact distance between the center of the Kaaba in Mecca and the center of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem is 665.65 nautical miles.

The Oklahoma State Capitol

The Oklahoma State Capitol has tons of architectural influences. It houses the government of the

U.S. state of Oklahoma obviously. Both the executive and legislative branch offices are found there.

The building is located along Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City. The present structure includes a

dome that was completed in 2002. The building is a National Historic Landmark. Oklahoma's first

state capital was found in Guthrie, OK. It was moved in Oklahoma City in 1910. The state capitol was

constructed beginning on 1914. It was finished in 1917. The state capitol complex is the only state

capitol grounds in the United States with active oil rigs. The capitol has many white limestone and

pink granite as a means to build up the structure. The building's dome is made up of steel

reinforced concrete and reinforced plaster casts. Surrounding the Capitol building is found other

government buildings, non-government agency locations, museums, libraries, and tree lined streets

and boulevards. The complex includes the State Capitol Park, the Oklahoma History Center, the

Oklahoma Judicial Center, and the Oklahoma Governor's Mansion. The 14,000-square-foot (1,300

m2) mansion has a limestone exterior to complement the Oklahoma State Capitol's exterior. The

surrounding neighborhood is home to numerous restaurants and bars. The Oklahoma History

Center opened in 2005 and is operated by the Oklahoma Historical Society. It preserves the history

of Oklahoma from prehistoric Native American tribes to the present day. There are many chambers

found in the interior of the Capitol. Tons of artwork is found in the Capitol as well.

Page 14: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

The image above outlines the interior of the dome of the Oklahoma State Capitol building. You can

see the geometric shapes and the seal of the state as well. There are many murals in the located

that were created by Native American artist Charles Banks Wilson including other prominent artists.

Oklahoma is a state with a strong historical connection with Native Americans. In real life, my oldest

brother currently lives in the great state of Oklahoma.

Page 15: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

The Chickasaw artist Mike Larsen created the mural of the Flight of Spirit. This mural honors the

Five Moons or the famous 20th century Native American ballerinas from Oklahoma. The mural is

found in the Capitol rotunda. There are many large paintings made by Wayne Cooper on display in

the building as well. Many of them depict the early heritage and oil history of the state. Seminole

artist Enoch Kelly Haney's painting entitled, "The Earth and I are One" is on display on the first floor

of the building. The Senate lobby includes a 6 foot by 10 foot oil-on-canvas painting of the

"Ceremonial Transfer of the Louisiana Purchase in New Orleans - 1803" by Mike Wimmer. The

Senate Lounge displays a watercolor painting entitled "Community of Boling Springs" by Sonya

Terpening.

Ghana

Africa is a great, special continent. It is person in my life, because I am of black African descent. I am a black African American man. My ancestors suffered a lot and struggled for freedom, so I could be here in the Earth. Ghana has a very special importance in the lives of black people and freedom loving people of the world. Ghana was freed from British imperialism via the strong efforts of Brothers and Sisters. One great man that led this movement for social change in Africa was the late great Kwame Nkrumah. He wrote tons of literature and articulated the vision of an unified, liberated Africa. Before the liberation of Ghana, British brutalized the people of Ghana. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah rightfully exposed neocolonialism as just as immoral as overt imperialism too. He said that neocolonialism was the last stage of imperialism. We should always reject the bourgeois tactic of accommodating a wicked system. The leader Padmore influenced Nkrumah too. Nkrumah influenced Lumumba and Sobukwe. The African liberation struggle is international. As Malcolm X said, African Americans are just as African as an African living in Nigeria. I am an African. RIP Osagyefo. He worked with the great leader and author C. L. R. James too (he was a great revolutionary). He helped to organize the Fifth Pan-African Congress. The independence of Ghana came in March 6, 1957. Many black Americans celebrated Ghana’s independence back in 1957 like Dr. King, A. Philip Randolph, Ralph Bunche, Adam Clayton Powell, etc. Ghana today has one of the fastest GDP in the world. It has greater economic power than

Page 16: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

years ago. It has universal health care too. Life expectancy has increased in Ghana and infant mortality has decreased in Ghana. All Ghanaian citizens have the right to have access to primary health care.

There are numerous beautiful architectural structures in Ghana too. Accra is the capital city of Ghana with over 2 million people living in Accra. One of the most beautiful architecture images of Ghana is the Independence Square. Independence Square (or Black Star Square) is a public location in Accra. Accra Sports Stadium and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park borders the location. It is the 2nd largest city square in the world after Tiananmen Square in China. It is the location where human beings celebrate via parades Ghana’s Independence Day which occurs on March 6th every year. The Independence Square itself has a 30,000 seating capacity. There is the Independence Arch in the location. The Black Star Monument is the image above. When you look at the black star on top of the monument, it represents the symbol of African freedom. The same black star is found in the Ghanaian flag. I close by citing the beautiful words (as found in a 2014 interview that she gave to Vaishna Roy) from the beautiful, highly intelligent woman Samia Nkrumah. Enjoy. The following words are from Samia Nkrumah’s own heart:

“… We believe staunchly in pan-Africanism — that African countries must plan together, work together, and bargain together. So we must unite. That includes forging closer relations not only with Africans within the continent but with the African diaspora, and it also includes South-South cooperation. That is why we were very big in the 1960s in the Non-Aligned Movement; that is when our friendship with your country consolidated and grew. So we believe strongly that yes, the developing world must work together and exchange notes. Another pillar of our ideology is justice, social justice. We define that as creating

Page 17: Architecture as Riddles in Stone Part 6

opportunities for everyone, every single Ghanaian. And as meeting the basic social needs of our people for a happier, more humane society.

The third pillar for CPP is self-determination and self-reliance. That is, we believe that we can offer (our own) solutions for our problems, for our economy — an independent African development solution rather than accept or pursue prescriptions coming from outside. We have the competence. Of course we can take advice, but we have competence and we can forge an independent development path and we must. The challenge is how to do it. But we must do it so that we can better control our resources, our growth and economy…”
