29 years ago I was born in a small state in Malaysia named Penang. Raised in an ordinary family has motivated me to dare to dream big and believe in myself if I would like to be successful in this world. Creation and imagination are powerful skills. By formulating our own unique creations, we may able to create a significant architecture building that personify and embody the diverse cultures that exist in this world. Self-expression is what differentiates us as an individual. It is my passion for Architecture as it a blend of art and building technology that able to transform our imagination to something that can benefit others – that is a building. A building is a place for shelter, a place for living, a place for working, a place of everything that we would like to have according to our needs and requirements.

After my graduation, I have spent a few months working at an established architect firm, ATMA architect in Penang. Not so long after that, I was offered a job as an Executive in a reputable MNC’s company, Intel. At Intel, I started my journey as an executive in Materials department. Although my career path had switched from my fundamental studies, architecture, I still offered my skill and expertise to my department since I was able to use my design and computing skills as I gathered a variety of other useful attributes while working there such as designing pamphlet, booklet, and presentation board. During my years of working in Intel, I have actively joined the volunteering classes in teaching art and design by utilising the AutoCAD and Sketch-up software. I keep teaching with all the experience I had from my previous architectural background. In addition, I also had been given opportunity by Community College, Kulim to be a part time lecturer to teach basic Adobe Photoshop lesson to the college student.

Besides that, I also take some part time job from the architecture firm for a small project. Over the years, I started to acquire a strong determination to proceed my studies in part II architecture as I have managed to obtain a scholarship/fellowship as a lecturer at USIM ( Islamic University Science of Malaysia ).

In 2013, I have been offer scholarship from the USIM University. I decided to take up the course without turning back. I have decided to leave my job at Intel and commence working at Azlina Architect’s firm. I took this opportunity to enhance and practising the architecture knowledge in order for me to prepare myself to pursue my study in the architecture field.

By pursuing a Master in Architecture, I believe in the near future, I will have the opportunity to develop my skill in architecture and able to be as a professional architect. I purposely choose United Kingdom as the place to pursue my studies as it is widely known as a country filled with bright ideas and a home to great established higher institutions. Furthermore, United Kingdom has been a major contributor to my country in providing precious chances to students with a unique experience, amazing, and a memorable study period, not only due to the qualities of the institution but also the top notch environment within the country. The experiences I am about to attain from United Kingdom would be one of the foremost consideration factors for my future career; not only in my current institution, but also if there might be any better opportunities I could gathered to serve my country.

Yours Truly,Marlissa
