    Rest Station.

This project was to bebuilt outside of town, next tothe highway from cities Chi-huahua and Juarez, beinglocated in the middle of thedesert we had a lot of roombut no services whatsoever,

so my design was to usewhatever material alreadyin the area, earth from thesite, and wood from its sur-roundings, the design is verysimple, and area with travelinformation, rest rooms, eat-ing area, and a landscapegazer.

I tried to use all the lightfrom the exterior to useminimal electricity, its openconcept allowed it to gazemuch of the natural land-scape, the design was tosimulate sand waves in thedunes. Rest Station. Perspective View.

    Catenary.

In this project we onlyhad 2 weeks to developa conceptual proposal, the only requirement wasto design infrastructureor urban furniture to beplaced on a residential

area, and the restrictionto be a catenary struc-ture.

I choose to design acanopy on the walkwaysthat connect the housesand buildings to makewalking in those areasmore appealing to theusers.

I used wood for allthe framing, and naturalwool shade designed tofit it and fall freely formingthe catenary.

    Church.

One of my mid-studiesprojects, we were askedto design a church, anydenomination, being froma mostly catholic country Idecided to go that way.

This project has a lot ofsymbolism in it.

First off is made of basicgeometrical shapes, a sim-ple sphere in the center, representing perfectionand God; It is open to thesky or Heaven.

It is above ground rep-resenting the hard path toascension and the pen-ance of the believers.

All the wooden sticksrepresent the individualsand families from all overthe world approachingGod.

The water pond symbol-izes the purification of the

believers before comingto paradise. The whole structure formsa cross, a powerful Chris-tian symbol, that is visiblefrom all directions.

The staircases are paint-ed only on the risers, thisconceptualizes only onepoint, ascending to heav-en is a pleasure, and de-

    scending is really bad.

    Final Project. AnimalShelter.

This was my last projectto obtain my bachelors de-gree, I team up with anotherstudent , we were asked todesign a solution to a socialproblem, one that could be

solved with a building fromthe most part.

We came up with theidea to design an animalshelter because in most cit-ies of Mexico animals are leftaside to tackle more impor-tant issues; We contactedlocal governmental agen-cies and non profit organiza-tions involved in this particularproblem , and came withthe conclusion that for thisproject to work we neededto develop a complex inwhich both parties couldwork together to achievethe same goal.

We divided the spaceinto two buildings A and B,one which would be under

the government manage-ment, and the other wouldbe under NPOs supervision.

In the project the twobuildings work together to es-tablish a synergy, one wouldwork only to collect homelessanimals and evaluate themto see which ones could beadopted, the other wouldwork to put the animals up

    to adoption.

    Building A.

    Building A.

My specific building towork with. This was designedwith the purpose of collect-ing the animals, evaluatingthem, deciding if they are fitand healthy to be put up toadoption, and offering the

service of euthanasia a cre-mation of pets to the public.

The program encom-passes, kennels, dewormshowers, isolated kennels, freezing room, incineratorchamber, vets. Clinics, re-search and zootecnic con-trol lab, offices, dinning hall, lobby and reception.

    Building B.

    Lobby andrest rooms.

    Ofces.

    Veterinary Clinic.

    Front Desk.

    Dog Kennels.

    Cat House.

    Lectures Hall.

    Dinning Hall and Bath-

    rooms with showers.

    Building B.

My part for this design wasvery basic, we discussed themain layout the formal rela-tion of this and other buildingand some zoning plan.

    This building was de-

signed to be operated bythe NPOs its function is verydifferent from building A,but without it the whole proj-ect lacks a more humanitar-ian side.

This building containsmostly exhibition areas so an-imals can be adopted, doga cat areas are separated,it has a formal veterinarianclinic, offices, a patio for theanimals, and one of themost important parts is thelecture hall, in which educa-tion can be provided to thecommunity, as well as localschools can make trips toreceive information on theneeds and obligations ananimal represents.

    Travel Photography.

Here are some ex-amples of photographicwork Ive done, thesephotographs reflect oth-er interest that I have, Ifeel really inspired andattracted to pre-hispanic

civilizations, thats a fieldI would like to pursue inthe future at some othertime, Im also very pas-sionate abut natural-scapes and try to drawinspiration from it, al-though it is hard to getabstractions from natureto design compellingand at the same timefunctional architecturalspaces, I believe that isvery important to respectit and to some extent fol-low its example.
