SERVICE AND PHILOSOPHYABOUT

ARCHITEKTURFUCHS was established in 2008 in Munich by ULRIKE FUCHS, after returning back from 3 years working in London based practice Horden Cherry Lee Architects. Still working close together with Prof. Richard Horden, founder of Horden Cherry Lee Architects and head of design who was Partner of Foster and Partners before. Working as architectural teaching assistant at TU Munich gives the freedom for innovative emerging design which influences the design ideas for the work for my own practice. ARCHITEKTURFUCHS is offering full scale architecture and design services worldwide. The office works closely together with specialized consultants and contractors to consistently ensure a high quality standard in all projects regardless of size or scale. We specially consider sustainable design from the first design idea on.

The current works reaches from exclusive housing development in Switzerland overlooking lake Lucerne to a small scale housing project overlooking Lake Maggiore. We develop corporate concepts and graphic designs for major brands like UBS or small-scale works for private customers.

Attention to detail and the close management of the design and construction process, working closely with the client, is as important to ARCHITEKTURFUCHS as the creative process.

the site is located adjacent to the embankment and com-mands extensive views along and across the river thames. the building, on the south site, will consist of a new residential complex incorporating a five star hotel with retail/restaurant uses at ground level. a new street, howard place, will be cre-ated separating the south and north sites and combined with a new public courtyard will provide a focus for the retail and hotel accommodation at ground level. a new public arcade will provide pedestrian access from temple place and the un-derground station at temple through the south entrance to the new courtyard .

the new building has been designed with great care to add a building of distinction to the crescent of varied buildings that make up the embankment and to compliment and enhance the presence of the fine somerset house by sir william cham-bers. the full application was submitted for the demolition of the existing 1970s office and hotel buildings and redevelop-ment of the site to provide 151 residential apartments, 98 bed hotel with 18 serviced suites, together with retail and restaurant facilities .

RESIDENTIAL CHELSEA BARRACS | LONDONPROJEKTE HCLA LONDON

the proposal of one chelsea for the official bit to the ministery of defence presents a classic and highly imaginative solution of a large contemporary crescent. this follows in the tradition of the great london parks such as the curved form of regents park crescent with its light-toned buildings form by john nash.

this design provides for 770 apartments and 5 penthouses facing onto a central open crescent shaped space which gives width and generosity at a critical point on an otherwise taught streetscape. the townscape plan was developed to enhance the experience for visitors to the chelsea flower show.

the crescent form giving a focus and elegant backdrop to the event. the crescent has its geometric focal point at the axis of the chelsea hospital building by sir christopher wren. the existing guards chapel is preserved.

materials are portland stone and with champagne hue met-alwork. the verticality and rhythm of the facade echoes the classic georgian 1.8m / 6ft window frame spacing.

evening hill overlooking poole harbour in dorset is one of the finest viewpoints in southern england with views to the isle of wight, the chalk cliffs of the purbeck hills, the na-ture reserve of brownsea island and the english channel beyond.

this 250 sqm house makes the most of the spectacular southern aspect by locating its four bedrooms on the low-er level and a combined living, kitchen, dining and study area on the upper, entrance level. its design is a further exploration of glass and steel construction and its poten-tial to take advantage of the beautiful location. the house also exploits the solar benefits of its southern aspect. it can absorb heat from the sun, and from light reflected off the sea, in the concrete lower ground floor wall. this heat is then re-radiated via the concrete structure in the upper levels in winter. transparent landward elevations at the up-per level also incorporate the surrounding evergreen hill-side with the slightly overhanging roof structure providing shelter from the wind.

house for a private client at tregonce a small hamlet loca-ted between rock and padstow . the house sits at the focal point of views across the estuary from the two towns. the linear plan arrangement of this house, which is for a sailing family, reflects the wide generous proportions of the site a 200m waterfront.

the house faces north over the inlet so the design has to make careful use of courtyards and top light to bring the sun‘s energy into the building to reduce energy losses through the sometimes opened glazed north facade.

the low slate walls are integrated into the design to enable a flow of space and natural movement from east to west. this restrained low profile design made in 2008 is delibe-rately reduced to enhance the sculptural shape of the two beautiful high macrocarpa trees and to enable extension of the house to the east and west without disturbing the background cornish rural landscape when viewed from rock and padstow.

the building’s iconic appearance has been derived from its en-vironmental, structural, and waterside location, it will provide a new high quality aesthetic that has a long identity and a close range material quality.the above ground levels of the building will provide 919,370 sq ft nia. of first class office accommodation over 45 floors, with su-perb views over west india dock and the wider area. typical floor plates range in size from 20,000 up to 26,000 sqft nia. floors are designed to be easily sub-divisible.the proposed building has an iconic design; its environmental performance have been designed from the outset to set new standards in commercial building design. park place will provide an exemplar of low carbon design for a city office development. detailed analysis has resulted in the optimisation of each faça-de to minimise the combined energy consumption by cooling and artificial lighting leading to a very „lean“ building. combined with very high energy efficiency specifications for all the building services, this design has far lower co2 emissions than allowed under current part l building regulations and is expected to be significantly better than even the anticipated 2010 update.energy strategy.

the poole museum has re-opened following to the refur-bishment and completion of the enclosure to the new en-trance area in april 2007. an elegant glass volume, three stories high, provides generous views through to the scaplen’s court wing and out to the quayside.tall, arched steel frames open towards poole’s high street to create a generous public sense of space while revealing the existing 15th and 18th century architecture in the heart of the old town conservation area, close to the sea front.the easternmost frame, closest the high street, is left as half a frame to signal the change in the street direction and to signpost the museum to passers by.

leaving the framed architecture open creates a strong vertical visual character to the end of the high street, and allows for future expansion of the museum as funding be-comes available. a new flat roof terrace over the 3-stories entrance provides an excellent viewpoint for visitors over poole harbour, the anthony caro sculpture and along the high street. this new high-level viewpoint in itself attracts new visitors to the museum.

das konzept des entwurfes für eine hochwertige exklusive bebauung für die bergstrasse 6 sind zwei in sich gedrehte baukörper, die den bewohnern eine optimale ausrichtung zur sonne und zum ausblick zu bieten. durch die drehung der bodenplatten hat jede wohnung 2 separate balkonbereiche die nicht vom nachbarn einzusehen sind. ebenfalls erweitert sich die balkon / freifläche durch die drehung der ebenen zur sonne hin. die umlaufende bodentiefe verglasung lässt die natur einfliessen und weite unversperrte blicke in die landschaft zu.in jedem geschoss befinden sich 2 wohnungen, die je etwa eine grösse zwischen 200 und 300 m² besitzen. der treppenhauskern und gezielt gesetzte massivbauwände steifen das gebäude aus. damit gibt es die möglichkeit der flexiblen grundrissgestaltung durch leichtbauwände, so-mit entseht ein offener grundriss bzw ein fliessender raum.

die umlaufende bodentiefe verglasung lässt die natur einfliessen. der balkon schliesst flächenbündig mit dem innenraum ab, so dass ein fliessender übergang zwischen innen- und aussenraum entsteht.die dem sonnenschutz dienenden schiebepaneele sind aus cham-pagner farbenen aluminium mit der textur des auf dem grundstück vorhandenen redwood trees um natürlichen schatten zu werfen.

daily life has been transformed by the arrival of technologies such as the internet, flat-screen television, and wireless phones as well as by improvements in domestic appliances like micro-wave ovens, fridge freezers and led lights. in addition, building technologies are advancing in the wake of aerospace, marine and auto industries, enabling new opportunities for living spaces with higher performance and less material.it is now possible to live much better on a smaller scale. the storage for books was once an essential part of learning or re-search, and the ownership of objects and rooms to store them in an essential expression of wealth. today we acquire knowledge from the internet and wealth is expressed by a high degree of physical and intellectual mobility. the luxury is in the compact technologies that allow us the greatest freedom of movement.we can now touch and be touched by the world from a tiny space. the ‚m-ch‘ is both a luxury and necessity on a small scale, a high quality home space for short stay living.installations have been made for the museum of modern art in new york, ubs bank in zurich switzerland, o2 telecom in ger-many and for various private clients with sites overlooking lake zurich and now planned for lake maggiore near ascona .

PUBLIC BUILDING VISIBILITY TU MÜNCHEN

the technical university munich is one of the elite universi-ties in germany with faculties for aerospace, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as architecture and industrial design. siemens, the fraunhofer institute for environmental design, o2 telecom and bmw are all organisations based in munich and with a host of aerospace companies provide much funding and sponsorship support for the university.the entrance is also an important point of arrival for the inter-national conferences held in the large audi max hall. our role is to improve the ‚visibility‘ of the main entrance building, built in the 1960s at 21 arcistrasse which currently has a dark and austere presence. the upgrading will have new lighting and white graphic design screens and clear way finding maps with current information on digital display screens. the exter-nal ramp improvements will make easier access for cyclists and the less able and make substantial improvements to the inner open courtyard. the work coincides with the opening of the new all white faculty centre, by prof. fink which has panoramic rooftop terrace views across munich towards the alps. this is also a favorite social point and venue for lectures and faculty meetings.

als projektentwickler, projektleiter und bauherrenvertreter sorgt der bereich neubauprojekte am flughafencampus für eine reibungslose planung und realisierung, von der ersten idee bis hin zur schlüsselübergabe.

aufgabe war hier als projektleiterin die entwurfsplanung einer neuen feuerwache für die 3. start - u. landebahn. hier bei wur-de unter der streng auferlegten vorgabe unter aspekten der nachhaltigkeit darauf geachtet dass die co2 emmission um 40% zur üblichen anforderung der enev2009 herabgesetzt wird. ziel war es unter den aspekten der nachhaltigkeit trotz-den ein kostengüsnstiges gebaäude zu enwerfen das den höchsten ansprüchen der nutzer gerecht wird.

home delivery: fabricating the modern dwelling was both a survey of the past, present and future of the prefabricated home and a building project on the museum‘s vacant west lot. the exhibition displa-yed the process of architectural design and production in equal measure with the actual end result.
