What is Project 24?
Project 24 is a thriving arts scene located on the seafront at Queen’s Parade,
Bangor in the borough of Ards and North Down. With its attractive natural
environment and stunning views overlooking the marina, this tranquil spot is a
haven for artists.
It is an innovative and impressive project which has captured the public’s
interest and created a vibrant, welcoming space to work and visit.
Twelve studios, a community garden, green area and an event space ‘The Hub’
make up this unique project. Quirky colours, floods of natural light and
bespoke interiors are features of these multi-functional spaces.
Artists meet and work alongside each other in a creative, engaging space whilst
engaging with the public.

What are the aims of Project 24?
To help artists grow and develop through businesses support,
networking and collaborative opportunities
To raise artistic standards
To increase community engagement
To establish an inspiring destination for artists and visitors
What is the studio space?
Customised shipping containers are grouped together with colourful exteriors
and ceiling to floor windows.
Each studio measures 2.8m (width) x 4.6m (length) x 2.4m (height)
Studios are fully equipped with a sink, desk, chairs, shelving unit, hanging
system, first aid box and fire extinguishers.

How does Project 24 benefit an artist?
A unique project which nurtures and supports artists through subsidised
studio space
Promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing
Providing tailored person specific business mentoring
Offering a range of relevant training
Profiling each artist with a range of PR/ marketing and creative event
opportunities to include project website, social media, press coverage
etc.
Encouraging and promoting opportunities to host workshops and
masterclasses
Direct engagement with the public
Who can apply?
Project 24 wants to hear from established and emerging visual artists and
collectives; including but not exclusive to, those working in the medium of
painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, drawing, film, sound, video, live
art and all craft*disciplines.

What does Project 24 require from you?
Commitment to one artist or a representative* being in each studio for a
minimum of six hours per day between 10.00am and 8.00pm, six days a
week including Saturday and Sunday, with extended opening hours
during the summer months. During working hours, artists are required
to be accessible to visits from the public
Participation within bespoke business mentoring
Commitment to participate within public events which may include
evening events
Payment of £50 per calendar month to contribute towards water,
electricity and rates costs
Attend monthly artists’ meetings
Adhere to Health and Safety regulations
Provide adequate Public Liability Insurance
*Representative - A representative should be knowledgeable about your work
and able to talk to the public.

Important information
Your proposal should not exceed the word limits specified (1200 words
in total; approximately two A4 sides)
Your proposal covers sections 4 and 5
All proposals will be assessed and scored against the following criteria:
o Artistic Quality (sections 4.0; 4.3 and 5). 40%
o Professional/Business development (sections 4.1). 40%
o Public Benefit (section 4.2) 20%
You must submit a minimum of five high resolution images and a
maximum of ten high resolution images as an example of your most
recent work.

Frequently asked questions
I am an international artist; can I apply?
Project 24 welcomes international artists. It is the responsibility of artists to
organise and pay for their own travel and accommodation. It is the
responsibility of the artist to arrange a valid visa for their stay in the United
Kingdom.
Where can I find further information about Project 24?
Visit www.project24ni.com
Come to an open visit at Project 24 on Monday 29 February between 12 noon
and 2.00pm and meet current artists, project representatives and view the
space. The perfect opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Can I work in my studio outside the hours of 10.00am and 8.00pm?
Project 24 is open to the artists 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Artists
must be available for a minimum of six hours a day between 10.00am and
8.00pm, six days per week including Saturday and Sunday. There are extended
opening hours during the summer months.
What events will I be expected to participate in?
Project 24 hosts a variety of events. The event programme is developed to
complement the artists’ practice and the environment and also increase
footfall to the project. Examples of events are: Open Art, Craft in The Hub,
Culture Kids.

Section 5: Images of your recent work
Submit images of your recent work (minimum five images – maximum ten high resolution images). Each Image must be prefixed by Your Name, numbered, titled and date when work was created. All work must be your own work. Format on a CD if sending by post.
