PROCESS FROM IDENTIFICATION TO TREATMENT:
When a diculty is suspected, book an appointment for an SLT assessment.
Complete the case history form in advance to help the therapist plan the individualized assessment.
On the day of the assessment, the therapist will discuss or clarify information from the case history form.
The parent may sit in that assessment session.
When assessment results indicate need for treatment, therapy will commence and goals will be targeted.
The therapist will conclude by giving a brief outline of the assessment findings, if possible.
If necessary, results will be analysed and a conclusion will be given at a later date.
If required, a written report will be provided.
If Speech-Language Therapy is recommended, the type and frequency of intervention required will be discussed.
Parents are then welcome to book therapy sessions.
If other diculties are identified, referral to other health professionals (such as an Occupational Therapist, or a Psychologist) may be recommended.
The assessment may include:

Speech-Language Therapy focuses on the assessment and remediation of Language Skills, Communication, Articulation, Oral-motor and Feeding diculties. Speech-Language Therapists are trained in prevention, screening, consultation, assessment and diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY

children are often referred by their teachers who identify diculties with communication
