Helpful Questions Is it time for you to schedule your annual mammogram? yes no (The National Cancer Institute recommends that any woman 40 years and older should have a mammogram every one to two years.) Have you or someone you know been diagnosed with breast cancer? yes no Are you welcoming a new baby into the world and searching for a hospital that excels in both high- and low-risk obstetric care? yes no Are you or someone you know looking for education and support related to cancer? yes no Do you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol? yes no Are you postmenopausal and have back pain, a loss of height or a stooped posture, or have you fractured a bone easily? yes no (The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends that any postmenopausal woman over 65 with 1 of the above risk factors for osteoporosis or a woman who has experienced early menopause undergo a bone density test.) Answering “yes” to one or more of these questions may indicate a need to speak to a Good Samaritan specialist. The medical center’s commitment to women’s health extends beyond obstetrical needs, to every phase of life—from pregnancy and parenthood through menopause and aging. The hospital continues to be a leader in breast health, offering a full spectrum of care for women to take preventative measures against cancer, with treatment and support for those who have been diagnosed with the disease. Good Samaritan continues to earn a number of prestigious honors, including three- year/full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers—which is administered by the American College of Surgeons—recognition by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence and the Outstanding Achievement Award and three-year approval with commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
