Are you ready?
Character Analysis Activity
Here’s what you’ll do…On the following slides you will see several
pictures of people, along with a quotation from that person.
Give each person a name.Use 5 adjectives to describe each person.
“OMG! I am like SOOO excited I like found these like awesome pink leggings to like go with my pink shoes at the mall like yesterday. It was like sooo worth ditching 5th period for.”
“I listened to Green Day yesterday alone in my room for four hours. Then I smoked a pack of cigarettes and wrote a poem about how much I love being alone.”
“So…Would you like to go on a date with me this Saturday night? What am I saying, of course you want to go on a date with me. Any girl in this school would love to go on a date with me. Guess you’re feeling pretty lucky I asked you, huh?”
“NO MOM! I TOLD YOU ALREADY!! I DON’T WANT DINNER!!!!!!! I’M PLAYING COD BLACK OPS! STOP TALKING TO ME!”
“Well, first I have an ASB meeting at lunch, then cheerleading practice after school. Then I’m meeting Kelly and Brittany and Ashley at Brittany’s house. We’re going to meet Johnny and Matt and Chris for dinner and a movie at the Highlands. Then tomorrow I’m volunteering at the soup kitchen and cheering at the football game then going to the homecoming dance because I was nominated to the court.”
Now that you’ve had some practice…You will do some of your own analysis:
1. On the same sheet of paper, analyze your best friend. Do not identify your best friend by his or her name.
2. List five adjectives to describe your best friend.3. Write a quotation from your friend that you
think helps to identify his or her character attributes.
Now, do the same for your worst enemy (again, no names!). If you don’t have an enemy, choose someone who you just don’t like very much, or don’t get along with well.
One more step!Write down the name of the character you
have chosen to write about in OM & M.Look at the analysis you have completed for
your best friend and worst enemy.Which list of adjectives best fits to your
character? Your best friend, or worst enemy? Look back at the list of adjectives you used to
describe all the individuals in this activity. Using these words and others you come up with, list five that describe your character.
