Are you ready for the digital eECD game-changer? Cefic, together with essenscia, ECTA and EFTCO welcome the chemical companies to start using the digital EFTCO Cleaning Document or eECD as of Q4 2018. For chemical companies, tank cleaning is a cornerstone in the logistics process for which safety, quality and operational efficiency must be safeguarded. To achieve this goal, EFTCO, ECTA and CEFIC developed in 2005 a uniform EFTCO Cleaning Document or ECD of which today, more than 3.000.000 paper ECD’s are issued annually in 4-fold!! In 2017-2018, the 4 associations joined forces, built a pilot project and turned successfully the paper ECD into a fully digitalized and collaborative eECD process which is now ready for production start-up and scale-up as of Q4 2018. This new digitalized eECD process is a real chemical industry game changer and overcomes the typical administrative burdens of a paper driven process, it increases the overall product quality by visualization of the 3 previous loads and allows a much more safe, efficient and reliable use of logistics resources going forward. eECD Benefits? Product and process quality: accurate, real-time product information The eECD process ensures that accurate & real-time cleaning and product loading information is being exchanged throughout the tank cleaning, transport, and chemical companies. The digital communication process is fully traceable between all parties leading to a less error prone, more transparent, highly accurate exchange of information, which in turn helps to deliver a high quality product & service to the end customer. The eECD project, an industry association initiative, backed by its members

Document or eECD as of Q4 2018.

Product and process quality: accurate, real-time product information

The eECD process ensures that accurate & real-time cleaning and product loading information is being exchanged throughout the tank cleaning, transport, and chemical companies. The digital communication process is fully traceable between all parties leading to a less error prone, more transparent, highly accurate exchange of information, which in turn helps to deliver a high quality product & service to the end customer.

The eECD project, an industry association initiative, backed by its members

Responsible Care & Safety

The aim for more safety and higher responsible care standards is a cornerstone within the strategy of each stakeholder. Misinformation due to non-transparency of product data, inconsistent safety data information or data delays, can cause dangerous situations for all stakeholders in their specific operations. This new digital eECD process allows to overcome these hurdles and guarantees a more safe & sustainable cleaning process.

Operational excellence

In the longer run, digitalization of the exchange of ECD information will mean less manual work, faster site entrance & loadings, less rework, automatic cleaning codes checks and reduced waiting times for truck drivers especially now that cleaning information can be exchanged prior truck arrival at the loading site. In addition, shortening the historical product blacklists will lead to higher asset availability, which reduces costs and increases efficiency.

With the benefits listed above, the eECD project is uniquely placed to lift the Responsible Care levels across the ‘end-to-end’ chemical logistics supply chain and this by embracing the latest ICT technologies.

Concrete benefits for the Chemical Producers

Improved Product Quality Reduced cross-contamination risks Automatic check of pre-loading restrictions and tank

cleaning for bulk shipments Paperless - Fast Lane access More compliant with regulations Reduced effort for manual checks Improved reliability / customer loyalty Real time notifications & warnings

The eECD project is built from the collaboration of ECTA, EFTCO, Essenscia and Cefic. It is managed through ECLIC, a non-for profit association with a fully transparent business model, based on the latest available technology and involving a highly secured platform operated by a neutral data custodian, NxtPort.
