Activity planned

• Take a drawing sheet and find its area & perimeter.Then cut into small strips.join the strips to form a belt. Find its area & perimeter.

• Same area can have different perimeter.

Find area & perimeter of the drawing sheet

• Area =L X B• 6 cm x 5cm = 30sq cm• Perimeter = 2x(L+B)• =2x(6+5)=22cm

Cut drawing sheet into small strips

• Join the strip• s to form a belt.

Find the length & breadth of given drawing sheet.

• L = 6 cm• B = 5 cm

• What is length & width of the given belt?• L = 30 cm• B= 1cm

• What is the area & perimeter of the given belt ?

• Area = 30cm x 1cm =30 sqcm• Perimeter = 2x(30cm + 1 cm) = 62 cm

• Area of the belt is same 30 sq cm. But perimeter is different
