Argo Community High School has reached a milestone in its history that many institutions and public service do-mains have yet to attain. This year Argo Community High School will be turning one hundred years old. In our area we embody and display our legacy and tradition as the old-est school in the vicinity that is one hundred years old.

In preparation of this celebration, last year in October 2018, under the guidance of the Board of Education and Dr. Jill Kingsfield a request went out to all community mem-bers, alumni and current and past Argo Community High School staff members to assemble a centennial planning committee. The Centennial Planning Committee has been meeting every month planning this year-round celebration.

The efforts of all these talent-ed individuals have warranted a tremendous following on our Centennial Facebook page and other social media outlets where all Centennial Events and Cele-brations are posted. These year-round celebrations circle around our Homecoming Festivities on October 4-5, 2019 and Alumni Night on January 17, 2020 which is also our 100th day of school. The culminating event at the end of this 2019-2020 school year will be a Centennial Gala at the Burr Ridge Marriot on June 6, 2020. Cocktails at 5:30pm, Dinner at 6:00pm and the After-Dinner Celebration at 9:00pm. Please see at our web site www.argohs.net or our social media outlets for updates on all centennial events.

During the 2018-2019 school year the Argo Community High School Art Club embarked upon a his-toric journey. Through the efforts of the Humanities Department, Senior Class Board, Argo Admin-istration, and the Board of Educa-tion a community-wide project for our students to leave a legacy here that embodies tradition. The Art Club enticed students, staff and community groups to partake in the Legacy Art Mural (please see below) in which the context of the Mural surrounds the story of Ja-son and the Argonauts. This glass mosaic started last year in Febru-ary 2019 and over the course of the summer and fall the first panel was unveiled at Homecoming Saturday on October 4th, 2019. This special event had dignitaries from our Board of Education, lo-cal political officials, and a special appearance by Miss Illinois 2019 who is an advocate for Art Edu-cation in all educational settings in Illinois. The Art club plans to work on the next phase of the Leg-acy Mural in December 2019.

Argo Community High School Mission Statement

We inspire, educate and empower students to envision and achieve a positive future for themselves and their community.

Dear Foundation Supporters,Your continued contributions to the Argo Higher Education Foundation made a tremendous

impact on educating the youth of the Argo High School Community for many years. In May 2019 we provided scholarships to 23 amazing Argonauts totaling approximately $25,000!

Each and every dollar donated to the Foundation is used to directly fund scholarships for college or trade school. All committee members volunteer their time and talents to ensure our fundraising efforts are successful. Absolutely no expenses are incurred other than those nec-essary for our fundraising events. The 2020 Argo Higher Education Foundation Casino Night brought in $23,000 and the Annual Golf Outing brought in $17,000, allowing us to award six more scholarships than in 2017. 80% of students who applied were able to receive a scholarship. To date the Foundation has proudly awarded 380 scholarships.

Thank you so much for your continuing support. We count on your generous contributions to the Argo Higher Education Foundation. We are a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and are listed as an approved charitable organization on the IRS website and we maintain our good standing status with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

To make a donation, please visit www.argohef.org or send a check payable to: Argo Higher Ed-ucation Foundation, P.O. Box 690, Summit, IL 60501. We welcome any amount donated.
