The GPM operates as an CAN node using the CANopen protocol of DSP-402 for motion control devices. Supported modes include: Profile Position-Velocity-Torque, Interpolated Position Mode (PVT), and Homing. A wide range of absolute encoders are supported.     SAFE TORQUE OFF (STO)DESCRIPTIONTheGPMprovidestheSafeTorqueOff(STO)functionasdefinedinIEC61800-5-2.Threeopto-couplersareprovidedwhich,whende-energized,preventtheupperandlowerdevicesinthePWMoutputsfrombeingoperatedbythedigitalcontrolcore.ThisprovidesapositiveOFFcapabilitythatcannotbeoverriddenbythecontrolfirmware,orassociatedhardwarecomponents.Whentheopto-couplersareactivated(currentisflowingintheinputdiodes),thecontrolcorewillbeabletocontroltheon/offstateofthePWMoutputs.

    Current must flow through all of the

    opto-couplers before the drive can be

    enabled

    STOBYPASS(MUTING)InorderforthePWMoutputsofthedrivetobeactivated,currentmustbeflowingthroughalloftheopto-couplersthatareconnectedtothe STO-1andSTO-2terminalsofJ3,andthedrivemustbeinanENABLEDstate.Whentheopto-couplersareOFF,thedriveisinaSafeTorqueOff(STO)stateandthePWMoutputscannotbeactivatedbythecontrolcoretodriveamotor.Thisdiagramshowsconnectionsthatwillenergizealloftheopto-couplersfromaninternalcurrent-source.WhenthisisdonetheSTOfeatureisoverriddenandcontroloftheoutputPWMstageisundercontrolofthedigitalcontrolcore. If not using the STO feature, these connections must be made in order for the drive to be enabled.

    Argus PLUS Module CANopen GPMMOTOR CONNECTIONS

    MOTOR PHASE CONNECTIONSThe drive output is a three-phase PWMinverter that converts theDC buss voltage(+HV)intothreesinusoidalvoltagewaveformsthatdrivethemotorphase-coils.Cableshouldbesizedforthecontinuouscurrentratingofthemotor.Motorcablingshouldusetwisted,shieldedconductorsforCEcompliance,andtominimize PWMnoise coupling into othercircuits.Themotorcableshieldshouldconnecttomotorframegroundforbestresults.

    DIGITAL HALL SIGNALSHall signals are single-ended signals thatprovideabsolutefeedbackwithinoneelectricalcycleofthemotor.Therearethreeofthem(U, V, &W) and theymay be sourced bymagneticsensorsinthemotor,orbyencodersthathaveHalltracksaspartoftheencoderdisc. They typically operate atmuch lowerfrequenciesthanthemotorencodersignals,and are used for commutation-initializationafter startup, and for checking themotorphasing after the amplifier has switched tosinusoidalcommutation.
