Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals
took a very active part in the 2018
Customer Relationship Manage-
ment Summit organized by the
Chartered Institute of Customer
Relationship Management. The
summit was held on 4 and 5 Octo-
ber 2018 at Holiday Inn Hotel, Hara-
re. The summit brought together
marketing executives, marketing
practitioners and public relations
practitioners from various organisa-
tions who had the opportunity to
share best practices and modern
trends in customer relationship
management. Mr L. Dhire who is
the Head of Public Relations at
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals
was one of the key presenters at
the summit. Participants expressed
a lot of appreciation for the quality
of services being offered at Pariren-
yatwa Group of Hospitals and sought
clarity on a number of issues.
A good number testified that the
hospital was making significant
strides in improving customer
service, a situation they had person-
ally witnessed when they visited the
hospital. It was also made abundant-
ly clear that customer service at a
hospital is quite different from cus-
tomer service at other institutions
like banks, supermarkets, etc. The
hospital’s key customer is the patient
with unique expectations. All other
institutions can say to a customer,
“Goodbye, hope to see you again
when you come back.” The same
statement would be a curse to a pa-
tient who wishes they would get
cured and never return to the hospi-
tal.
In 2017, Parirenyatwa Group of Hos-
pitals made it to the final list of the
Consumers’ Choice Awards. The
hospital’s services were described by
its customers as;
less stressful,
ethical in conduct,
reliable, trustworthy and credible,
provides a pleasurable experience,
gives real value for money
deliver what it promises, and
respect the rights of its consumers.
Thumps-up to all staff members at
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals

motto, “Striving for Excellence”

Upon receiving an invitation from the Health Service Board,
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals was tasked to set up a stand to
conduct blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight checks, at the
108th edition of the Harare Agricultural Show, which lived up to it’s
anticipated vibrancy and diversity.
Armed with basic frontline office equipment, a sphygmomanome-
ter, glucometer, thermometers and bathroom scale, we provided
free checks to all who visited our stand. According to the Ministry
of Health and Child Care, hypertension and diabetes are the leading
non-communicable diseases causing death in our population.
These silent killers are affecting many people’s lives and stealing
them from their families, hence, the need for proactive information
dissemination on healthy living. If detected early, these diseases
can be better controlled with appropriate dietary adjustments and
medication. Day 1 at the stand was the least active, with mostly
fellow exhibitors from near-by exhibits coming to have a health
check. On day 2 up until day 6, we witnessed big crowds ranging
from 50-150 visitors per day. The issues of weight loss and hyper-
tension were top amongst the many inquiries made by people.
Most people were well versed about body mass index (BMI) and
showed keen interest on how to achieve and maintain their desired
weight. Other topics of interest were on family planning, cervical
cancer and diarrheal diseases in children. The overall turnout was
encouraging, some people did however raise a few queries regard-
ing poor services from nurses at health institutions when attending
to patients and their relatives, whilst most appreciated this excel-
lent initiative by the institution and expressed their heartfelt grati-
tude for the welcoming atmosphere and health information they
received, thus future interaction between health workers and the
public must be encouraged to prevent misconceptions and myths
regarding the health sector.
Members of the Pediatrics Division came together to bid fare-
well to Dr Mavetera and presented him with an honorary shield
as a symbol of appreciation for the time he has devoted to the
pediatrics division at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. This was
accompanied by a couple of speakers who had nothing but kind
words for Dr. T. Mavetera who has decided to step down from
his post as Head of Division of Pediatrics, so as to focus on his
new role as Senator in Masvingo Province. An elated and hum-
bled Dr Mavetera gave a heartfelt farewell speech thanking eve-
ryone in the pediatrics division for the memories and times they
shared together during his time there. He also gave a special
thanks to his mentor, Professor Chitsike, for the skills and
knowledge he attained under her tutelage.

PGH Centre of Excellence on track As Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and AHF hold Annual Review Meeting
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals (PGH) and
the AIDS Health Foundation Zimbabwe (AHF)
emerged pleased with the progress on show
during their annual meeting to review the
outstanding work at the Parirenyatwa Group
of Hospitals Centre of Excellence.
In her presentation, Resident doctor for the
centre, Dr. Lowe, said that since their partner-
ship in 2017, the two organisations have wit-
nessed a landslide progression at the Pariren-
yatwa Group of Hospitals Centre of Excel-
lence. This is aligned with their goal to im-
prove the quality of care and access to infor-
mation for all patients.
The impressive development within the last
year has been made possible by a number of
initiatives. AHF has gone an extra mile to as-
sist PGH ensure that all the patients at the
centre have access to high quality medicines,
diagnostic services and have access to inte-
grated Sexual Reproductive Health and TB
services.
Hailed by the Sister-In-Charge, P. Gondo were
the efforts made to equip the centre with the
right number of high caliber staff with an
appropriate skill mix to manage HIV and relat-
ed co-morbidities. The staff at the centre are
trained and mentored healthcare profession-
als involved in HIV management. Local and
AHF-provided supporting staff are able to
enhance quality management systems at the
facility since they are products of standard-
ised HIV clinical care training.
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals Centre of
Excellence has also seen a great stride to-
wards possession of state of the art equip-
ment, a safe, comfortable and efficient envi-
ronment, conducive to the overall well-being
of the patients.
Speaking on behalf of AHF Zimbabwe, Dr.
Mukwati, said AHF prioritises improvement
and mordenisation of the centre services. He
said, “Some medical equipment consisting of
BP machines, otoscopes, glucometers, LP
and biopsy kits have since been acquired for
the centre. A new pharmacy was also built in
addition to a number of renovations in pro-
gress”.
Prof. C. Ndhlovu, a consultant at the centre,
expressed her gratitude for the support from
the PGH Management, AFH as well as other
partners contributing to the massive success
of the Centre of Excellence. She further said
that it is with the patients at heart that she
wishes to continue to see the partnership
excel in the future.

Tel-one FC………………0
Parirenyatwa FC proved impossible to contain
for Tel-one FC in their Communications League
game this past Saturday at One Commando
grounds. Parirenyatwa FC got their goals
through Elvis Mutandagayi who scored a brace,
Peter Tofa who provided the Parirenyatwa FC
with an early opener, Phanuel “Thunder”
Mwadiwa’s strike and midfield maestro Mal-
vern Mukachana’s header. The Tel-one FC cre-
ated a fair number of goal scoring chances for
themselves. However goal-stopper Lovemore
Mumba refused to concede on the day in what
was a classy performance. Parirenyatwa FC
drew first blood with an early strike from Peter
Tofa giving Parirenyatwa FC the lead ten
minutes into the match after receiving a well
weighted pass from Phanuel Mwadiwa. Mwadi-
wa went on to put himself on the scoresheet in
the 26th minute of the game after his strike sent
the Keeper the wrong way to make it 2 nil in
favour of Parirenyatwa FC.
Dribbling wizard Elvis Mutandagayi then scored
his ninth goal of the season to send his tea m
into half time with a 3 goal advantage. The
second half was no easier for Tel-one FC as the
home side stretched their lead even further
when a Kumbirai Jaure cross found an open
Mutandagayi, who made no mistake and gob-
bled up the chance to secure his brace and give
Parirenyatwa FC a 4 goal lead.
Malvern Mukachana put the proverbial final
nail on the coffin in the 70th minute of the game
with a headed effort making it 5-0. Parirenyat-
wa FC’s Technical team was pleased with the
team’s dominant display over their opponents
ahead of their tournament games over the
weekend.
