MASS INTENTIONS Though we cannot attend Mass as a general public, our priests are still celebrating private daily and weekend Masses on their own. Mass intentions will continue to be honored and can still be scheduled at this time. To schedule Masses for loved ones or special intentions, please contact the parish office. This is a wonderful way to pray for all of our loved ones, living and deceased.

CONTACT THE PARISH OFFICE The parish office is still closed to visitors. However, there will be a live person in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM to answer phone calls and emails.

OPEN CHURCH HOURS Effective Monday, May 11th, both Christ the King and St. Anthony Churches will be open for private visits and prayers. There will be no public celebrations of sacraments yet, but we are getting closer to the time for the renewal of daily Masses, Sunday Masses and other liturgical celebrations. If you do visit one of the churches to pray, please stay in the areas designated for prayer in order to make it easier to clean the churches each day, Special instructions for private visits will be found on the doors of the churches. To one and all: I don’t know about you, but I was not thrilled to see snowflakes every day Mother’s Day weekend. Friday, the snow and wind made it impractical to play my first round of golf this year. Saturday, while doing yard work at the rectory, I was moving mulch and shoveling top soil in between regular bursts of snow coming off Lake Champlain. And even Mother’s Day, though to a lesser extent, there were still some snowflakes in the air as I began the Lord’s day. I must admit, I am officially sick of snow in 2020. Perhaps the fact that we are still social distancing and wearing masks in public places—and not celebrating public Masses—has added to my frustration with the presence of snow in May. However, regardless of the Covid-19 precautions, I am sick of the snow. I am praying fervently for Spring to finally arrive, so that typical Spring things can be done without having to bundle up like it was January. In some ways, my fervent prayer for the true coming of Spring mirrors the Church’s prayer for the coming of the Holy Spirit. As we move into the latter parts of the Easter season, the prayers and readings begin to anticipate the Ascension of Our Lord and the descent of the Holy Sprit into the hearts of believers. We begin to hear, more and more in the scriptures, of the gift of the Holy Spirit in the life of the early Church and the Spirit’s empowering Christians to bring their faith to others. It is the Spirit that brings life to the Church, that encourages believers to share their faith with others, and the Spirit that sustains believers in times of turmoil and persecution. Thinking of this makes me realize that, as much as I may be praying for the gift of a true Spring, in reality, I should be praying for the renewal of the Holy Spirit in my own life of faith. Especially at a time when it could be easy to lose zeal and become lethargic in living and sharing faith, because things are still so much shut down. I should be praying that the gifts of the Holy Spirit, given and strengthened through Baptism and Confirmation, once again be stirred up in my life, so I can be an enthusiastic and authentic witness to Christ. So my encouragement for all of us, in the midst of our prayers for Spring, is to pray for a renewal of the Holy Spirit in all of our lives, so that we remain authentically the Body of Christ in a world that needs Him more than ever. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. V. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. R. And You shall renew the face of the earth. Let us pray. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen. In Christ, Msgr. John J. McDermott, VG

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most holy Eucharist. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

LIVESTREAMED MASS While public Masses are suspended, Fr. Zuccaro will be celebrating the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass every week via Facebook livestream. Please visit our parish Facebook page every Sunday to watch. Spread the word! Tell your family and friends! Stay connected to your parish in spirit and prayer.

GETTING READY In anticipation of being able to return to the public celebration of Mass, here are a few important reminders: The obligation to attend Sunday Mass will

remain suspended until further notice, likely until a vaccine is readily available.

If you are feeling unwell, stay home please. If you are part of the vulnerable population (age,

pre-existing health issues, etc.), stay home please.

Hand sanitizer will be available at church entrances when arriving and departing.

Social distancing will need to be maintained, unless sitting with household members. Pews will be marked and reserved.

Holy Communion will be distributed in the hand only when we return.

Please keep checking our parish website, Facebook page and church doors to stay up to date on developments.

A FRIENDLY HELLO Our parish priests and generous volunteers are making phone calls to all our parishioners to check in, see how you’re doing, pray with you, and hopefully put a smile on your face. We are thinking of you and praying for you, and we can’t wait to see you all at Mass again.
