Arithmetic Order of Operations used in Excel

1. Calculations in parenthesis are done first.

When you have more than one set of parenthesis, the inner parenthesis are done first.

2. Exponents (or radicals) are done next left to right. (You won’t be using exponents in assignments.)

3. Multiply and divide in the order the operations occur from left to right.

4. Add and subtract in the order the operations occur from left to right.
