Ark Pioneer School Day

Pupils at Ark Pioneer have a longer school day than many other

schools. This allows pupils to study a wide-range of subjects and also to

spend more time learning English and Maths ensuring high standards of

literacy and numeracy.

The school gates open at 8.00am and a member of the senior staff will

be at the school gates greeting every pupil as they arrive to school.

Breakfast is available in the school dining hall from 8.00am and pupils

travelling with mobile phones must arrive before Line Up to hand their

phones in to school office staff by 8:20 at the latest. (Phones are

returned at the end of the school day.)

The school day officially begins with Line Up at 8:25am in the Courtyard

and ends at 4:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On a

Wednesday school finishes at 3.00pm. Pupils are walked by their

teacher from their last lesson of the day to the school gates. Pupils who

need to collect their mobile phone do so now.

There are seven lessons on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On

Wednesday there are six lessons because school finishes early. Every

Tuesday and Friday, Period 7 is Enrichment. Form Time (sometimes

called Tutor Time) is on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, after the

lunch break. Assembly is on a Friday after the lunch break. Both Form

Time and Assembly are 30 minutes long. Each takes place in a

different classroom and registration is taken at the start of each lesson.

Lessons last for 55 minutes. Double lessons last for one hour and 50

minutes. Teachers will usually dismiss a class a minute or so early to

allow them to reach their next classroom on time.

Every day at 11:15 there is one twenty-minute break after Period 3. The

lunch break begins at 1:25pm and ends with Line Up in the Courtyard

at 2:10pm.
