FEATURES

FEATURES

The product comes with a dual ‘plate’ system that is the looped support platform for the pouches to be attached,and with straps and yoke to allow the wearer’s choice of chest or belt carriage. The unique webbing configurationalso allows ALICE clips to be used as the attachment method. This system, developed in conjunction with FrenchSpecial Forces, has been on trial for the last two years and now can be brought to the market with confidence that ithas been an outstanding success.

THE ARKTIS SMOCKOur military jackets define the best that is available in the market. Our ripstop fabric is a 50/50Cotton/Polyester blend with both reduced melt hazard and low absorption of body salts. The fabricis treated with a water-repellent finish. A 210gm2 weight is both light and strong. A variety of liningsis available: waterproof/breathable (extremely lightweight), windproof (from microfibre material),and unlined for hot weather situations. The styles reflect a number of different pocketconfigurations allowing choice for specific roles. The sizing is generous, allowing the user to wearthe necessary mid layers. Tape-connected buttons, small pocket detail, two-way front zips, stoutnon-rot threads – all critical detail to ensure maximum function and efficiency.

The Windproof and Waterproof Smock is the same item with a different lining.The Waterproof Smock is highly breathable and has the powerful advantageof allowing the user to dispense with any heavyweight waterproofs. TheWindproof Smock, whilst water-repellent has a less expensive lining. Werecommend that it be used in conjunction with the ultra-light and compactArktis Rainshield to provide a waterproof system, again dispensing with theneed to carry bulky and heavy outer waterproof garments.

Can be used as an interactive garment with our AvengerJacket or may be used as a stand alone garment ideal forspecialist units. Pilling resistant fleece material is engineeredwith proprietary yarns to optimise warmth/weight ratio andlined with a breathable liner, creating wind resistance up tofour times greater than regular fleece. These attributes makethe garment a good choice for outer or mid layer solutions.

COTTON/POLYESTER RIPSTOP GARMENTSThese items utilise a waterproof/breathable internal dropliner with a water repellent outer fabric. For care, justbe sensible. These garments will stand up to the elements, but human ingenuity combined with the chemicalsthat are used in commercial laundries has been known to do damage.

Really heavily crusted dirt can have a wicking effect, and reduce the waterproof performance. You can machinewash these garments safely using light detergents. After a couple of years you can enhance the innerdropliner by ironing the outer garment with a hot iron. You can also restore the water repellency of the outer byusing the correct NIKWAX or similar product - spray on applications work best in this regard as wash-inapplications can affect the breathable performance. Generally, when drying the garment, remember that thegarment is waterproof not flameproof and don’t set the dryer on a maximum temperature.

WATERPROOF NYLON GARMENTSMost technical finishes are achieved by heating processes. Very high temperatures can alter performance.There were some people in a prison laundry who did manage - once - to boil the high level characteristics out ofa batch of jackets we had supplied to a team of prison guards, so it is definitely possible to ensure that thewarden gets wet! Normal treatment, however, allows for plenty of abuse of these products.

HIGH VISIBILITY MATERIALSThe standards of visibility were designed and developed by a bunch of people who seemingly were notemployed to worry about what would happen to the high visibility performance after the garments have beenworn in working conditions for months on end. High visibility fabrics - unless heavily coated in a non breathableprocess - take on dirt very easily.

Dirt can be removed by long-cycle washing and the use of a cloth (not too much abrasion). Oil stains requirepatience, and may need a couple of repeats of the same process. Our fabrics are treated with a process thatmakes it difficult for the oil to “stick” to the fabric, but this process does not cover all eventualities.

The reflective tapes used on high visibility suffer from abrasion unless coated. We advise that REFLEXITEreflective tape be used, but it does affect the price.

WEBBING MATERIALSMost of these are supplied in IRR camouflage. Do be aware that the IRR properties are affected as soon as dirtaccumulates - because dirt has IR characteristics of its own. If you want to clean your webbing, soapy waterand a light scrubbing brush will do the trick.
