IntroductionProject Title: “Botelya,Yero,Plastik”Problem Statement:
Nowadays, Zamboanga City’s dumpsite is full of garbage. Garbage that are disposed by Zamboanguenos daily. Botelya, the bottles, Yero, the scrap metals, and Plastik, the plastics are the common garbage that can be found in the dumpsite. Zamboanga City’s dumpsite is located on Lumbangan, Zamboanga City. Lumbangan’s constituents are Roman Catholics, Protestants and Jesus Miracle Crusade. The major livelihood is farming. Moreover, there are a lot of the people in Lumbangan who are more in garbage collection and selling it. Thus, makes there income generated.
Community Needs:
With the problems that were assessed the following needs were driven out:• To lessen the waste materials in the dumpsite that were thrown away daily.
Thus if successful, it would lessen the harms for the people such as contagious diseases
• To provide more income to the people in Lumbangan utilizing the different the three common wastes in the dumpsite.
• To let the Zamboanguenos specifically the youth to be aware of the City’s dumpsite in order to have a control on the usage of things so that there would be less waste
• To increase health awareness with the diseases that were common in the people of Lumbangan
Objectives:
With the needs of the community, one concise and clear objective was drawn:• To have a well income generating project that will utilize the
common waste in the City. Thereby, giving the barangay’s health important at the same time it would lessen the waste that are thrown away each day
Solution Statement:
To figure out on how to solve the following problems with the given objective, a solution statement was figured:• To enhance the capabilities of the people in Lumbangan in their
craftsmanship especially in handling plastics, bottles, and cans in turning them into precious items that can be sold. In order to do it, people in Lumbangan specifically the collectors and peddlers need to learn the proper sanitation in doing such activity. A proper seminar shall be done to the people in Lumbangan about the project
Introduction
Outputs: If the project was proven to be successful, the following things would be the results:• To provide PET bottles to be used in the solar disinfection project to 50
households in Lumbangan specifically the people rely on water rains and water in the river
• To provide livelihood to the [15] wives of the garbage collectors/peddlers in Barangay Lumbangan
• To have video ad campaign about the environmental projects• To give medicines to the people of Lumbangan
Outcomes: If the projects was proven to be successful, the following things would be the products:• To raise the awareness of the high school students about the environmental
issues in the Philippines specifically the use of botelyas, the bottles• To equip the Mothers necessary knowledge in doing the bags, raincoats and
etc• To introduce the solar disinfection project to the people of Zamboanga• To start a project that could yield in banning the use of plastic, PET bottles• To enhance the health status of the barangay

• By relating my project to one of the solutions given by Dr. Sue that we need for a better solid waste management as lack of garbage pickup and recycling things which contaminates our rivers and seas.
• By garnering ideas that wastes materials can be turned into a useful one
How innovative is your project?
• By giving an improvement to the monthly income of the peddler’s family.• By giving a high new compact ideas in recycling with regards those three things
that are common to be called as WASTES.• Most importantly, By doing something that will make my La Bella Zamboanga – a
greener city.

How do you ensure sustainability?
• By having a monthly check up to be done by the UZ Community Extension Services and the I can MAKE a difference
• By making this project as one of the main core programs of the Community Extension Services of the university with the help of I can MAKE a difference
• By showing the video ad campaign to MagTV De aton este every month would help encourage Zamboanguenos to be part of the project.
• By doing this project to another barangay which is barangay Bunguiao, adopted barangay of UZ
• By visiting the site regularly, twice a month
Moreover, The people in LUMBANGAN will:• Continue doing this project because they will have realizations at the end
of each seminar. They will know that it would be helpful for them to have the Solar Disinfection Project which could lessen the common diseases in water, the proper sanitation to be done after the garbage collection. With the realizations they have, they will still continue in doing the project because of the monthly income they would have.
