ARROW ATHLETICS ST. URSULA UPCOMING MATCHUPS MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY · CREW (A) SRAA Nationals Windsor, NJ FRIDAY · CREW (A) SRAA Nationals SATURDAY · CREW (A) SRAA Nationals WEEKLY SPORTS IN REVIEW CREW: THE SNUDA CUP CHALLENGE This past week the first ever SNUDA Cup Challenge was held on the Maumee River amid food and fun for all. The SNUDA Cup Challenge is an event which will be held every year pitting two fierce rivals with rich Crew traditions, St. Ursula Academy and Notre Dame Academy against each other. The winning team gets to hoist the SNUDA Cup (see picture) and keep it for one year, until the next challenge. This year’s champion is none other than SUA!! Way to go girls!! We encourage all the girls from SUA and NDA to come out next year for free food and free fun! The Midwest Regional Championship at Dillon Lake in Nashport Ohio It was all for this. Weeks gripped by the jaws of winter, in the gym, under grueling conditions and the watchful , unrelenting, demanding eyes of professional trainer Steve Corggens sweating to the oldies, it was all for this. Up the long, delirious fog shrouded Maumee, in bone chilling temperatures that would make cowards of lesser girls….it was for this. Up on school days, at O’ dark thirty and into the boats, amid freezing rain and bitter cold at 5:30am under the watchful eyes of Coach Pete Fox, working toward perfection, it was all for this. This was the destination, the Midwest Regional Championships. To get to it, to achieve it, required a deep felt appreciation of the jour- ney and the process and the grind and the pain, blisters, tears, fears hunger and passion for excellence instilled in them by Coach Pete. These competitors weren’t born, rather they were crafted from a kind of priceless mettle reserved for the precious few, sinew made by God, a desire born of a willingness to rob fear and cheat pain and curse doubt.
