The Bavarian National Museum

The Bavarian National Museum isone of the largest art and culturalhistory museums in Europe. The Lenbachhaus is famous for theworld's largest collection of works bythe artists of the “Blaue Reiter” suchas Franz Marc, Wassily Kandinsky,August Macke, Paul Klee andGabriele Münter. The City Gallery,which includes the Kunstbau in theKönigsplatz subway station, is hometo works by Munich painters of the19th century and current temporaryexhibitions. Since re-opening in May2013, the former residence andstudio of painter and prince Franzvon Lenbach shines in a new luster.
