Participant Recruitment Procedures

● Have you been looking to expand your skills set?

● Are you interested in enhancing your client’s engagement?

● How many ways of dealing with resistance are you aware of ?

-offered ‘at cost’ for Hunter Graduate students that major in counseling (min. 7 students)

-promotional informative one-page pdf file would be sent out via email across full time faculties of graduate

programs associated but not limited to mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling and social work in

colleges across New York State. Same pdf file will be printed and mailed to directors of previously assessed

substance use disorder treatment centers.

-Interested individuals that are not counseling professionals, counseling related professionals, counselors in training or that not enrolled in a graduate program can enroll upon previous contact and consultation with program development team to assess the potential benefits of the workshop to the individual for the purpose of guarantee of minimal satisfactory experience.

Multicultural Considerations● facilitators to have an open and non-judgmental attitude

● awareness and being sensitive to cultural diversity relates not only to race but also to spirituality,

religious affiliation, gender issues, sexual orientation etc.

● facilitators will pay special attention to multicultural diversity-related issues that might be brought up

during the session, and take preventive measures

● facilitators will provide tools for members to identify and resolve items questionable ethically, as they

treat the relation between the facilitators and workshop members' or potential clients’ autonomy,

beneficence, non-malfeasance, and fidelity

Ethical Considerations

● In the case of ethical dilemmas, the facilitators will refer to the ACA

Code of Ethics and Models for Making Ethical Decisions.

● Considering the fact that the workshop is designed for counselors

any ethical dilemmas could be put up for a forum discussion.

● Facilitator will seek consultation with experienced professionals, if

such is necessary.

● Interventions are designed to be universal, however it is the

workshop participants’ responsibility to properly evaluate whether

given technique is an appropriate intervention to use. Workshop

facilitators will provide overview of techniques and prospective

limitations of application.
