Blueprint for Arthritis Communication Plan

Meeting on February 12 helped us determine audiences and communication channels for disseminating the Blueprint for Arthritis

Participants identified six key audiences: Senior centers (community centers) Legislators Nonprofits Health insurance companies Healthcare providers The news media

Blueprint for Arthritis Communication Plan

The participants also created a three-point key message related to disseminating the plan:

1. Arthritis does not need to limit people from participating in physical activity.

2. Fear of arthritis pain keeps people inactive.

3. Regular physical activity decreases the impact of arthritis on people’s lives and helps manage conditions like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes which they may have.

Table 1: Next Steps for dissemination of the Blueprint

Clearly describes tasks to be completed and gives some proposed completion dates

Also identifies what group (staff, AAG members, or a combination) should complete each task

Tasks, personnel and completion dates were determined by information in other tables

Questions on the Communication Plan?

Page 10: Arthritis Advisory Group Meeting Presentation

Arthritis Program Evaluation Plan Conference call February 22 helped focus the

goals of the evaluation plan and refine the Key Questions

The evaluation as discussed in February was broad in scope – due to budget constraints the number of evaluative activities had to be reduced

Page 11: Arthritis Advisory Group Meeting Presentation

Arthritis Program Evaluation PlanPurpose of the evaluation: Determining the success and impact of Arthritis Program

initiatives, including Buenos Dias Artritis and selected evidence-based programs

Assessing the extent and efficacy of collaboration and partnership efforts

Evaluating the “reach” of the Arthritis Program, and its success in increasing awareness among various audiences and populations in New Mexico

Identifying areas for expansion and improvement, especially in regards to data collection, contractor service, and deployment of evidence-based programs for people with arthritis

Page 12: Arthritis Advisory Group Meeting Presentation

Arthritis Program Evaluation Plan Evaluation will be split into two phases to

streamline data-collection activities and conserve costs

Phase 1: completed in FY 2010-2011 Phase 2: completed in FY 2011-2012

Of the 11 Key Questions for the evaluation (next slides), 6 will be addressed in FY 2010-2011
