The announcement was made by Research Committee Chairman, Terry L. Whipple, M.D. Winner of the Resident's Essay Award was Kevin Robert Stone, M.D., South Lake Tahoe, CA (Figure 1) for his paper entitled "Ligament and Tendon Oxygenation Measurements Using Polaro- graphic Oxygen Sensors" (Arthroscopy, Vol. 3, No. 3, pp. 187-195). The Richard O'Connor Award winner was Har- vard Ellman, M.D., Los Angeles, CA (Figure 2) for his paper entitled "Arthroscopic Subacromial De- compression: Analysis of One- to Three-Year Re- sults" (Arthroscopy, Vol. 3, No. 3, pp. 173-181). This award is given for the best paper submitted on a subject related to diagnostic or surgical arthros- copy. Both papers were given at the meeting and the winners each received a certificate and hono- rarium. 218
