The Arthroscopy Association of North America announced the Research Award winners at the 6th Annual Meeting of the Association March 11-14, 1987 in Houston, Texas. The announcement was made by Research Committee Chairman, Terry L. Whipple, M.D.
Winner of the Res ident ' s Essay Award was Kevin Robert Stone, M.D., South Lake Tahoe, CA (Figure 1) for his paper entitled "Ligament and Tendon Oxygenation Measurements Using Polaro- graphic Oxygen Sensors" (Arthroscopy, Vol. 3, No. 3, pp. 187-195). This award is for the best study and manuscript prepared by a resident or fellow in training on a subject related to diagnostic or sur-

The Richard O'Connor Award winner was Har- vard Ellman, M.D., Los Angeles, CA (Figure 2) for his paper entitled "Arthroscopic Subacromial De- compression: Analysis of One- to Three-Year Re- sults" (Arthroscopy, Vol. 3, No. 3, pp. 173-181). This award is given for the best paper submitted on a subject related to diagnostic or surgical arthros- copy.
Both papers were given at the meeting and the winners each received a cert if icate and hono- rarium.
