They came from 3 different countries – Spain, France and Poland. The purpose of the project is to learn about the different cultures, traditions and to speak English more fluently. About the project The Comenius is a 2 year long project. We have chosen it as an optional subject. The project is only available because we have got some money from EU. We use the money to travel to the other countries. In our international English lessons we learn English that we can use in a normal day. We have learnt about the other countries and have written with our pen pals from Spain, France and Poland too. What did we do? Monday at four o’clock the pupils from Spain arrived by bus. The Danish pupils welcomed them, and afterwards they brought them home to their host families. The pupils from France arrived by train at 8 o’clock, and again the Danish pupils welcomed them. The polish pupils arrived Tuesday and stayed in Denmark to Saturday where they travelled by bus home to Poland. The students weren’t strangers. We have some pen pals we write to and some of the Danish students have already been in France. The Danish students almost had their usual schedule on Tuesday except in the two first periods where we showed our guests the school. In the last two periods where we usually have International English, the Polish pupils arrived by bus. We welcomed them and went on sightseeing in our big market town Hobro who just promoted to the best league in Denmark called “Superligaen”. They thought the city was very green and beautiful. In week 19 the pupils and their teachers from the Comenius project came to Denmark. They came from 3 different countries Spain, France and Poland. The purpose of the project is to learn about the different cultures, traditions and to speak English more fluently.

About the projectThe Comenius is a 2 year long project. We have chosen it as an optional subject. The project is only available because we have got some money from EU. We use the money to travel to the other countries. In our international English lessons we learn English that we can use in a normal day. We have learnt about the other countries and have written with our pen pals from Spain, France and Poland too.

All the students from the Comenius ProjectWhat did we do?Monday at four oclock the pupils from Spain arrived by bus. The Danish pupils welcomed them, and afterwards they brought them home to their host families. The pupils from France arrived by train at 8 oclock, and again the Danish pupils welcomed them. The polish pupils arrived Tuesday and stayed in Denmark to Saturday where they travelled by bus home to Poland. The students werent strangers. We have some pen pals we write to and some of the Danish students have already been in France.

The Danish students almost had their usual schedule on Tuesday except in the two first periods where we showed our guests the school. In the last two periods where we usually have International English, the Polish pupils arrived by bus. We welcomed them and went on sightseeing in our big market town Hobro who just promoted to the best league in Denmark called Superligaen. They thought the city was very green and beautiful. Most of them live in apartments and haven't seen big houses like the houses in Denmark with garden, greenhouse and flowers. We were proud hosts when we showed our hometown. Its good advertising for our city to get a nice mention from our partner countries in the south. We played some games and got together, and in that way we learned much more about each other.

Trip to SkagenWednesday morning we took the bus to Skagen. We had our own private bus. The trip took about 3 hours. When we arrived the students from the other countries got a quiz about Denmark. The quiz was about the booklets that we had made about Denmark, food and traditions in Denmark and Hobro. They thought it was nice to get some facts about the Danish culture and people. Skagen was nice and we saw the famous draw, Grenen. It was an unlucky day to visit Grenen because it was flooded. Skagen city was cheerful and homely as usually. They were impressed about the yellow houses with the red roofs, the paving stones in the walking street and the exposure near the sea.

sterskoven - The east forest Thursday the Danish pupils had their usual schedule until 1pm. Afterwards we all played some games in sterskoven (The east forest) with a Danish ranger. Our teachers split us up in three different groups, and we walked separately around in the forest and made different team building exercises. We climbed trees, played mini-games and tug-of-war.

Trip to Aalborg Friday we all went to the train station in Hobro where we said goodbye to the pupils from Spain who took the train to Billund, where they flew back to Spain. The pupils from Denmark, France and Poland took a train to Aalborg. In Aalborg we saw a modern art museum, and afterwards we said goodbye to the French pupils who flew back to France the same day. Only the pupils from Poland and Denmark were left when we took the train home to Hobro again. It was a very good day, and a good way to say goodbye to the pupils from the other countries. Saturday at 11 oclock the polish pupils and teachers left Hobro and Denmark.

The visit was educational and it was a very good experience. All in all it was a very exciting and fun week, and it was very educational to learn about the different cultures and to experience the many different ways we live. And thats what its all about; To learn English, different cultures and to boost the partnership among the countries in EU in a funny way.
