Sherle Wagner International has paired with Fairweather Magazine to host a special exhibition and sale of contemporary art to benefit The Watermill Center John Chamberlain Residency Grant Fund.
“Reflections: Art and Beauty,” an exhibition of contemporary art curated by Alexandra Fairweather, Daneyal Mahmood, Katherine Vogel and Maria-Anna Goess, will be held in the flagship showroom of Sherle Wagner in New York City on March 27.
The Watermill Center, an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities was founded by theatre and visual artist, Robert Wilson, as a place for young and emerging artists to work, learn, create, and grow with one another. Watermill integrates performing arts practices with resources from the humanities, research from the sciences, and inspiration from the visual arts.
The Watermill Center John Chamberlain Residency Grant Fund to benefit the Center’s year-round Artist Residency Program was launched two years ago by art advisor, filmmaker and Fairweather Magazine publisher Alexandra Fairweather in honor of her late step-father, the world renowned artist John Chamberlain. The Artist Residency Program provides a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore and develop their work.
Among the art on sale for this special benefit will be works by Robert Indiana, Robert Motherwell, Milton Avery, John Chamberlain, Alex Katz, Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, Craig Poler, Guillaume Roemaet and Jeremy Wagner, grandson of Sherle Wagner. As well, there will be a selection of artworks especially created for The Watermill Center’s Annual Summer Gala and Art Auction, one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Hamptons over the summer, attracting attendees from around the globe.
Special guest hosts of "Reflections," a by invitation only event, will include Wendy Federman, Sara Herbert Galloway and Barry Klarberg, Eric Goodman, Joan Hornig, Anne Huntington and Nicole Miller.

The roles of Long Island and New England communities in the slave trade, and the living consequences of that history, were explored at two public programs offered at Sylvester Manor Educational Farm in observance of Black History Month.
On Saturday, February 22, Sylvester Manor and about 50 members of the community participated in what is believed to be the first public recognition of the 200 African and Native American enslaved, indentured and freed peoples buried at the Manor.
The Children’s Museum of the East End’s Annual ‘CMEE in the City’ dinner at Apella in New York City took place on February 25. Southampton Hospital employees will be wearing blue on Friday to raise awareness of National Dress in Blue Day and colon cancer. Though preventable, colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer of men and women in the United States. If detected early during routine screening, colon cancer is beatable. People over 50 years and those with a family history of colon cancer should be screened annually via colonoscopy.
Talk to your doctor about your risk for colon cancer and tell a friend as well. To find a physician, call 631-726-8362.
And on Friday, bust out your blue.

Duh! He graduated from Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College – how do you NOT see that coming?
It was there, amidst the grease paint and cream pies that Penn met his life partner – not his wife, Emily Zolten, his sidekick, Teller.
The duo actually began as a trio, ”The Asparagus Valley Cultural Society,” in 1975. Penn and Teller performed together in 1981 and have been together ever since, their show a unique blend of comedy and magic. Teller, notably, is the silent type: he never speaks on camera, though he is perfectly conversant in real life. Penn does all the talking onstage. They are not the best of friends, by any stretch. Despite 40 years together, they never socialize -- after work they go their separate ways.
By all accounts they are fond of each other, despite the fact they shoot, stab, hang, and torture each other with regularity on stage. They debunk magic in the process, often showing the audience how a trick is being performed.
Penn Jillette, 1955
There have been literally hundreds of TV appearances, Broadway shows, and movies. In addition the duo has authored numerous books, video games, and even published music albums. No, Penn doesn’t sing.
When he’s not working Penn is an accomplished jazz bassist. He is an avowed atheist, a Libertarian, and though he does not drink or use drugs is in favor of legalizing all drugs. He has two children with Zolten: a daughter, Moxie Crimefighter, and a son, Zolten Penn.
New To Theaters
Ernest & Celest ine (PG-13) Wherein a mouse and a bear become unlikely friends. Based on the best-selling Belgian book series, this animated effort has been praised by critics and audiences alike. Featuring the voices of Forest Whitaker (he be the bear) and newcomer Mackenzie Foy (she da mouse) with Lauren Bacall, Paul Giamatti, William Macy, and Megan Mullaly.
Coming Soon
Muppets Most Wanted (NR) The Hensons are dropping off like . . . well, dead puppets, but the franchise keeps pumping out hit movies. This one is set in Europe and features Ricky Gervais.
New On DVD
All Is Lost The despair weighs in early and remains unrelenting, wearing down even the most ardent Robert Redford fan. Still, this is a film first and foremost about sailing,
and how a sailor – and his boat – is equipped to handle most anything that might occur on the high seas. Try it.
Now Playing3 Days To Kill (PG-13) This is your
basic wintertime box office fodder and a nice paycheck for the always reliable Kevin Costner. He plays (yes) an international spy whose last assignment is to hunt down and kill (yes) the world’s most ruthless terrorist while coping with his . . . wait for it . . . rebellious teenaged daughter he hasn’t seen in years. That would be Hailee Steinfeld of True Grit fame.
Need For Speed (PG-13) It used to be the other way around but now Hollywood is making movies that originated as video games. This one, courtesy of Dreamworks, is based on a cross country race against time and features (ta-da) breathless car race footage – but you already figured that out.
300 Rise Of An Empire (R ) The original spawned a new genre, and now the stampede begins: scantily clad muscular men slice and dice the living crap out of each other. Hey, someone’s gotta do it.
Adult World ( R ) The plot, reminiscent of Frances Ha, revolves around a young college poet (Emma Roberts) who becomes obsessed with an obscure older poet (John Cusack). The movie has none of the charm of Ha, and Roberts is no Greta Gerwig. Cusack does his best, but with a character named “Rat” he was doomed to fall short. It’s pretty disheveled and doesn’t really go anywhere.
The Lego Mov ie ( PG -13 ) Improbably, it’s a smash. Take the kids, despite the rating. Chris Pratt is the voice of a perfectly ordinary – well, piece of plastic – gets drafted into an improbable journey to stop an evil tyrant from destroying the world. Yes, think Lord Of The Rings.
Labor Day (PG-13) This was supposed to be an Oscar vehicle for Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, but it had to be re-tooled and missed the deadline. Still, the story, about a boy and his mother who take in a stranger, tugs on the emotional heartstrings and the actors perform admirably. In the end, though, the writer/director Jason Reitman (Up In The Air, Juno) dials up the sappiness to overdose level.

MethodFor this recipe you will need time,
patience, and a hot grill. Rub some of the salt, black pepper, and chili powder onto the slab of ribs. Sear the ribs on a very hot grill for 30 seconds on each side. Transfer the slab of ribs into a deep hotel pan. If you do not have a hotel pan, cut the slab of ribs in half and use something that can hold the ribs and about one gallon of liquid.
In a blender cup add the chopped bacon, garlic, ginger, Dijon, brown sugar, spices, soy sauce, vinegar, and one cup of the barbecue sauce. Fill the rest of the way with water and liquefy those ingredients into a flavorful cooking liquid.
Pour that liquid over the ribs and add another cup of water to the liquid before covering the ribs in aluminum foil. Place them in a 300 degree oven for four hours.
While the ribs are cooking mix your broccoli slaw so that it can marinate for a few hours as well. Mix the shredded vegetables with the dressing ingredients and place in the fridge until service.
When the ribs are close to being done take two cups of the cooking liquid and reduce in a pan. When the liquid begins to thicken up, add the other cup of your favorite barbecue sauce. You can use resulting sauce to glaze the ribs when you take them out of the oven to finish on the grill.
After four hours the ribs should be fall-off-the-bone tender. Carefully remove them from the cooking liquid and place right on a very hot grill, turning and brushing with sauce for about one minute until you have a nice charred flavor. Serve with the broccoli slaw and a side of barbecue sauce for dipping.
