To the Press Oklahoma! and Charlie Brown will kick off the enter- tainment this year, as Cedar Summerstock Theatre in Osage has announced the shows for its 2019 season. Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” will run from June 20-30, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will run from July 5-14, “9 to 5” will run from July 18-28 and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream- coat” will run from Aug. 1-11. The Cedar Summerstock Theater was created in 2016 to provide outstanding college performing arts students an intensive experience to devel- op their skills, connect with industry professionals, and further engage Upper Midwest communities in the arts. The Cedar Summerstock Theater is modeled after similar successful programs on the east coast, such as Mac Hayden Theatre in Cha- tham, NY and the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, MA. Cedar Summerstock The- ater features a core company of college theater performance and tech theater majors collaborat- ing together, connecting to the community, and working with industry professionals. Col- lege performers and crew re- ceive free room and board and a $1,000 stipend upon comple- tion of the season. The season consists of four musical productions and two cabaret style events. All four musicals are staged at the Cedar River Complex in the Krapek Family Fine Arts Center located in Osage. The cast, crew, and artis- tic staff will be housed in local homes in Osage or St. Ans- gar. Rehearsals and production facilities are at South Square, a former elementary school in St. Ansgar. Daily meals are also served at South Square. It has grossed more than $734 million worldwide. The expansion comes days after “Bohemian Rhapso- dy” won the Golden Globe for best film drama. Rami Malek took home a Globe for best actor for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
