  • You will take part in discussions relating to a variety of situations and topics.
  • You will give presentations and argue viewpoints.
  • You will understand more complex language including references to French culture and society.
  • You will be able to understand and write coherent texts covering more specialised contexts.
  • You will write confidently using a range of tenses and vocabulary in a variety of registers. (e.g. A review, a specialised area of study, or a letter to an employer)

  • This AS course will be suitable for you if you are taking your GCSE in French this Summer and wish to continue learning the language at a higher level.
  • You will enjoy speaking and writing in French and wish to understand main points of authentic spoken language.
  • If you enjoy learning vocabulary and grammar.
  • If you are interested in using a language in one of the many jobs where knowledge of French would be an advantage e.g. journalism, business, medicine, law etc.

  • French-Advanced Level AS level equivalent
  • The listening, reading and writing papers are computer-based.
  • In the listening and reading papers, you will show you can understand interviews and texts and be expected to answer multiple-choice questions, understand sections of continuous language and identify ideas in extracts.
  • The speaking paper is examined by an assessor. You will speak in response to stimuli. You will present topics and express and justify opinions at a more advanced level.
  • In writing, you will demonstrate your ability to write in a variety of registers & formats.

  • This advanced French course will enable you to become a confident speaker, who can give viewpoints and participate in discussions.
  • You will understand conversations at a near native speed and therefore it will give you an advantage if you wish to study French A2 level at Sixth Form College
  • It will sharpen up your communication skills, team working and interpersonal skills, presentation skills problem solving skills, organisational skills and good learning strategies.
  • This qualification will impress sixth forms, universities and employers as it shows your capacity to learn a foreign language and will ultimately improve your future career prospects.
