At Colourful Coffins you can choose every

and engraved plates. All coffins intended for burial

come with handles, however they can be optional for

cremation. If you are choosing a cardboard coffin,

please note these are normally supplied with

material or rope handles.

Solid metal handles for burial only are available

at a small additional cost.

Wreath holders are available in two different styles, and coffin or casket caps can be supplied in gold or silver.

“Norman Blythe - Painting a fitting tribute

When Norman Blythe died, his family chose a Colourful Coffin with a

bespoke design featuring a very special painting he had completed after a

favourite family holiday in France.

The scene, which depicted the tree-lined tranquillity of the Canal du Midi, was

beautifully reproduced on his coffin and made a unique and very poignant farewell

to Norman, much loved husband to Jean and father to Alison.

“Dad took up painting when he retired and this picture was especially precious because

he painted it for me as a birthday present after we had all been together on canal boat

for a day during a lovely trip to France,” said Alison.

“A few days before he died, Dad said he wanted a blue coffin and Mum came up with

the idea of using his painting for the design. Colourful Coffins were fantastic, when we

saw the proof by email we were impressed, but nothing prepared us for just how

beautiful the Colourful Coffin was when we saw it for the first time.

“It created a real stir as we went into the crematorium for the service and the vicar

couldn’t take his eyes off it. We told everyone why we had chosen the painting and

invited them to come up to the coffin afterwards for a closer look, which they all did.

It was a very special occasion and we received some wonderful comments. I’m sure if

Dad could have seen it he would have been very proud.
