Armenia has officially declared 2015 the Year of Armenian Culture, which involves a series of eventsworldwide throughout the year to underline the nation’s broad culture wealth. As part of this initiative,Armenia’s rich and diverse range of musical genres will be showcased to Midem’s global audience in Cannes.The country of honour programme at Midem is sponsored by the Tashir Group.

The country has produced a wealth of international music talent, including the legendary Charles Aznavour,the Grammy-nominated Armenian-American rock band System of a Down, Oscar-winning composer MichelLegrand, celebrated classical composer Michel Petrossian, and Tigran Hamasyan, the piano prodigy . Tobuild on this global success, Midem is seen as an excellent opportunity for Armenia to initiate internationalcontacts to nurture a more solid domestic music sector.
