TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION
Reception of Holy Communion is open to confirmed members of the Lutheran Church—
Missouri Synod who repent of all sins and understand that they receive Christ’s true Body
and Blood, as well as bread and wine, for the forgiveness of their sins. If you are not a
member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, we respectfully request you speak with
the Pastor before communing. This practice is prompted by love both for God’s Word and
God’s people. Those who are not communing today are invited forward for a blessing.
Please cross your arms across your chest for the blessing. A good tool for use in preparing to
receive Holy Communion is found on pages 329-330 of the hymnal. For further study,
please see: Matthew 5:23-24, 18:15-35, 26:26-29; Acts 2:42; Romans 16:17; 1 Corinthians
10:16-17, 11:17-33.
AS WE GATHER
The holy Triune God “created the heavens and the earth,” and “behold, it was very good”
(Gen. 1:1, 31). However, after Adam and Eve fell into sin and plunged God’s good
creation into decay and death, the Son of God would be “delivered up according to the
definite plan and foreknowledge of God” to be “crucified and killed by the hands of lawless
men” (Acts 2:23). As Jesus “received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit”
(Acts 2:33), He also raises up all the baptized and pours out the Spirit upon them through
the preaching of His Gospel. He sends out His apostles to “make disciples of all nations”
by “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” and
“teaching them to observe all that [He has] commanded” (Matt. 28:19-20). Through such
baptizing and teaching-Gospel and Sacraments-the holy Triune God recreates us in the
image and likeness of His incarnate Son, Jesus, the Christ, and behold, it is “very good”
(Gen. 1:31).

repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake
of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son,
Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.
P: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained
servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the
stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins
in the name of the Father and of the † Son and of the Holy Spirit. [John 20:19-23]
C: Amen.

ANNIVERSARY SERVICE—NEXT SUNDAY, June 14, the Rev. Dale Brynestad, third Called Pastor of Divine Savior, will be here to proclaim God’s Word in the Divine Service at 10:30 AM. He will also facilitate Bible Class this day (IN THE SANCTUARY) at 9:00 AM. (There will be no Sunday School for the children.) There will be a meal prepared and served, with all the proper health precautions, by a small group of volunteers after the Divine Service. Plan to be a part of our 30th Anniversary Celebrations as we welcome back former Pastors of Divine Savior. Invite a friend to join you. SENIORS—Congratulations to Joey Dozal and Micah Ferreira, the 2020 High School graduates of Divine Savior. We pray for God’s blessings upon them in their future endeavors, and we also pray they may be faithful to the Lord and His Church throughout their days. VOTERS ASSEMBLY—Due to the postponement of the April Voters Assembly and a conflict with the July Voters Assembly date, BOTH of these regular meetings will be held on Sunday, June 28, following the Divine Service. Contact Chairman Jim Danner for more information. CHURCH COUNCIL—The Church Council will not have a formal meeting today. However, Council Members are asked to help set up the Fellowship Hall after the Divine Service today in preparation for the meal to be held next Sunday. SOCIAL DISTANCE—Please remember to social distance while here in the Sanctuary and Narthex. It would be best once the service is over to exit the Narthex and socialize at a six-foot distance in the parking lot or under the trees. Holy Communion is a “walk by” format, there is no “formal” gathering of the offering, no handshaking, and no Bible Class or Sunday School at this time. Please keep 2-3 chairs separating non-household members in the same row. MATTHEW 28:19-20—“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Behold the threefold Name of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the Name we are baptized into. We have been made a part of God’s family. And so we are now called to live lives that are in harmony with our new family. We are to be godly and live in God’s image. As God is loving, kind, and generous, so are we called to be.
