Saint Pius X Catholic School Newsletter
Dear Saint Pius X Family and Friends,
Thank you for all of your support and well wishes regarding my recent announcement. The number of
emails and special notes that I have received from parents and community members has been overwhelming
and greatly appreciated. I am blessed and grateful every day to be part of the Saint Pius X community.
As you may have seen on our school’s Saint Pius X Facebook page, all four of our SPX PECSAA basketball
teams were successful at this past weekend’s PECSAA Basketball Tournament. Both of our Varsity
PECSAA Boys and Girls Basketball Teams placed 1st in the tournament and both of our Junior Varsity
PECSAA Boys and Girls Teams placed 2nd
. Congratulations to our basketball teams and cheerleading
squads for a job well done! Tomorrow, our three SPX Varsity Basketball Teams and Varsity Cheerleading
Squad will be dismissing early to travel to Charlotte and join other teams from NC, VA, SC, and GA to
compete in this weekend’s 2016 Shamrock Basketball Tournament. Go Comets!
Finally, please mark your calendars for our upcoming spring social and fundraiser event. Each year, we
alternate between a full-scale gala (BASH) and a more-low key event. This year, we are planning a
Casino Night to be held on Saturday, April 30. More information will be forthcoming from our Casino
Night Committee led by Dean Edwards. In the meantime, please save the date for Saturday,
April 30.
In Christ love,
Anne W. Knapke

St. Jude Math-A-Thon News The St. Jude Math-A-Thon booklets were ordered last week. The students should receive them this week. Please make sure your child completes the math and collects the pledge money. Thank you for participating in this program benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is one of the world’s premier centers for research and treatment of childhood cancer. It is a beacon of hope to families everywhere whose children are fighting for their lives. In fact, St. Jude treats the world’s sickest children, and they do it for free – no family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives. Your child and the donations gathered help make this possible.
Thank you, Lorraine Malphurs, Coordinator
