IN THIS EXERCISE ONE WILL EXPLORE THE FORMAL STRUCTURE
IN WHICH ELEMENTS ARE ARRANGED TO GIVE A SENSE OF UNI-
TY TO A COMPOSITION FROM FORMS OF VASTLY DIFFERENT CHARACTER.
EACH VOLUME CONTAINED A VARIETY OF SHAPE, PROPORTION AND SIZE, BUT SHOULD
FIT WITHIN A MAXIMUM DIMENSION OF 200mm AND A MINIMUM DIMENSION OF 20MM.
AS EACH VOLUME SHOWED A CLEAR HIERARCHY IN RELATIONSHIP WITH ONE
ANOTHER, DOMINANT, SUBDOMINAT, AND SUBORDINATE VOLUMES WERE ES-
TABLISHED IN THE STRUCTURE. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE AWARENESS
OF THE INHERENT PROPORTION OF EAACH ELEMENT LENGTH*WIDTH*DEPTH.
THE MAIN IDEA WITH THIS DESIGN WAS TO SHOW A CLEAR USE OF VOLUMES ALONG
THE X,Y,Z AXIS TO HIGHLIGHT THE DOMINANT, SUBDOMINAT, AND SUBORDINATE VOLUMES.

IN THIS EXERCISE ONE WILL USE WHAT WAS LEARNT IN FORMS TO SHOW A CLEAR UN-
DERSTANDING OF DOMINANT, SUBDOMINAT, AND SUBORDINATE VOLUMES, WHICH WAS
USED TO GIVE A VISUAL IMPACT OF AN IMPORTANT EVENT IN JAMAICA’S HISTORY BY
CREATING AN INSTALLATION THAT REPRESENTS THAT CULTURE AND MEANING. BEFORE
THE DESIGN COULD TAKE PLACE AN INSPIRATION WORD WAS FORMED “DETERMINATION”
WHICH WAS ASSISTED WITH AN ABSTRACT PIECE TO HELP DEVELOP THE INSTALLATION..
1948-1952-JAMAICA AS AN ATHLETIC POWERHOUSE1948-1952-JAMAICA AS AN ATHLETIC POWERHOUSEArthur Stanley Wint(May 25, 1920 October 19, 1992) died in Linstead, was the first Jamaican Olympic gold medalist, winning the 400 m at1948 Summer Olympics.Arthur Wint, known as theGentle Giant, was born inPlowden,Manchester, Jamaica. In 1942 he joined theBritish Commonwealth Air Training Planand set the Canadian 400 m record while training there. In 1948 Wint won Jamaica's first Olympic gold for the 400 m (46.2) inLondon, beating his team-mateHerb McKenley. In 800 m he won silver afterAmericanMal Whitfield. InHelsinki1952 he was part of the historic team setting the world record while capturing the gold in 4 x 400 m relay. He also won silver in 800 m, again coming second to Mal Whitfield. He ran his final race in 1953 atWembley Stadium. He was inducted in the Black Athlete's Hall of Fame in the US (1977), the Jamaica Sports Hall of Fame (1989) and the Central American & Caribbean Athletic Confederation Hall of Fame (2003).
Herbert ("Herb") Henry McKenley OM(July 10, 1922 November 26, 2007) was aJamaicanathlete, winner of a gold medal in the 4x400 mrelayat the1952 Summer Olympics. Born inPleasant Valley,Clarendon, Jamaica, Herb Mckenley was also the head of the list of world best times in 100 m (10.3), 200 m (20.4) and 400 m (46.2) in 1947. He is the only person to have ever done this feat. Just before the1948 London Olympics, McKenley ran the newworld recordin 440yd (400 m) of 46.0, a record he broke again a month later, clocking 45.9. But at the Olympics itself, McKenley finished only second in 400 m, behind teammateArthur Wintand was fourth in 200 m. He probably lost a gold medal in the 4x400 m relay when Wint pulled his muscle in the final. At the1951 Pan-American GamesinBuenos Aires, McKenley was third in 100 m, 200 m and 400 m, the only person to ever perform this feat. At theHelsinkiOlympics, McKinley was second in 100 m (the first four clocked 10.4 in a very close race) and also second in 400 m. He finally got his Olympic gold, when he helped the Jamaican 4x400 m relay team to win the race with a new world record of 3.03.9. McKenley died at the University Hospital of the West Indies, according to Howard Aris, president of the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association, who was speaking for the family. The cause of death was complications of pneumonia.

He competed in the1948 Summer Olympics, but did not win a medal, being eliminated in the heats of the 100 m and the semi-final of the 400 m. He was also a member of the heavily favoured Jamaican 4 x 400 m relay team.. On August 22, 1950 atEskilstuna,Sweden, Rhoden set a newworld recordin 400 m of 45.8 s. He also won the AAU championships in 400 m from 1949 to 1951 and as a Morgan State University student, won the NCAA championships in 220yd (200 m) in 1951 and in 440yd (400 m) from 1950 to 1952. At the1952 Summer OlympicsinHelsinki, George Rhoden was more successful. He was one of the pre-race favourites in the 400 m as a world record holder. He won a close battle with his compatriot McKenley, who had also been second in the 1948 Olympic 400 m. As the anchor runner of the Jamaican relay team, Rhoden added a second Olympic gold.

IN THIS EXERCISE ONE STUDY THE FORM OF HUMAN BEHAVIOUR, WHICH WAS AC-
COMPLISHED BY A SERIES OF MOVEMENTS THAT FOCUS ON THE PROPRTION AND
THE SPACE THAT THE BODY OCCUPIES. THEN WITH THE STRICT BOUNDARIES THAT
THE RITUAL REQUIRES HELPS FORM THE SURROUNDINGS BY THE SPECIFIC DIMEN-
SIONS THE BODY USES WITHIN THE SPACE. WITH THAT IN MIND ONE SHOULD CON-
CEPTUALIZE THE RITUAL IN ARCHITECTUAL TERMS, CONSIDERING THE NUMBER
OF OCCUPANTS, THE SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPSAND THE SEQUENCE OF MOVEMNTS.

IN THIS EXERCISE ONE STUDY THE movement of the sun path, and also the di-
rection of the wind. basically in this exercise one learnt that the sun
acts differently on either side of the building, whether it is the south,
north, west, or east, and with the information gained after studying how
the sun affect what ever side it may affect the building a skin was de-
signed for it to reduce the amount of sun that may affect but allow air
to flow through and cool the structure it protects and also letting the
people who occupy it also have vision outwards. the skin was also ma-
nipulated to divided the structure into private and public section, and
with the combination of all that detail a beautiful facade was develop

IN THIS EXERCISE ONE STUDY THE characteristics of architecture, throught the
use of scale, hierarrchy, symmetry, repetition, balance, geometry, etc. which
distinguish the form, ritual and mediation of the structure. conceptually
the precedent exercise links with the ffour exercises before, which helps
to investigate the formal and spatial characteristics of the built form,
which is the salvacao church by charles correa who uses the openings on
the top to let in light within the structure and alsso help for ventilation.

IN THIS PROJECT ONE STUDY THE RITUAL OF BATHING, WHICH COULD BE A COMMUNAL
ACT, THAT IS BOTH THERAPEUTIC AND PLEASURABLE. SO AS ONE CONCENTRATE ON THE
RITUAL IN DETAIL WHICH WAS THE TURKISH(HAMAM) WAS LIKE A SOCIALIZING EVENT
WHERE PEOPLE GATHER AND TALK AOUT MARRIAGE, LIFE ETC. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJ-
ECT WAS TO TAKE IN CONSIDERATION THE PHYSICAL ORDERING OF SPACE, CIRCULATION
AND FORM GUIDED BY A CENTRAL DESIGN IDEA(MEDIATION, MEMORY, FORM, RITUAL).
AFTER DOING THIS PROJECT I DRAW A CONCULSION THAT ARCHITECTURE IS BASED ON SCALE
AND PROPORTION, FOR A SPACE TO BE CONSIDERED AS A PLACE, EACH SPACE HAS ITS OWN
SPECIFIC SCALE AND PROPORTION IN RELATION TO HIGHLIGHTING MEDIATION THROUGH
FORM, WHICH HELP TO DEVELOP MEMORYAS ONE JOURNEY THROUGH THE BATH HOUSE
