ASA Online Update Guide
1 PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT AND TARGET GROUP
This document describes the ASA Online Update function for standalone ASA installations
and the ASA administrative (admin) client used in ASA network installations or ASA data
sharing installations.
Note for administrative clients: The online update setup and process are the same as in the
standalone ASA installation (for the information about administrative clients, please refer to
the ASA Network Installation Guide or ASA Data Sharing Installation Guide).
Target Group: All 1st level help desk providers for the ASA application.
ASA version: 1.7.5
2 SETUP FOR ASA ONLINE UPDATE
By default, ASA automatically starts up online update once a week. The ASA online update
is a separate process. Therefore, ASA remains accessible during the update process.
2.1 OPTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING/SHARING ONLINE UPDATE FILES
The online update process starts by first downloading files from the LexCom server via
Internet (Default), and then carries out an update. In case you have several ASA installations
in your network, the heavy network traffic caused by each ASA downloading files via Internet
can be avoided by sharing the update files which are downloaded by one ASA installation in
your LAN (Option).
Default: ASA downloads update
files via Internet.
LexCom server
ASA
Option: One of the ASA installations runs the
default ASA online update. Then the files are
shared within the LAN.

Domain: update1.lex-com.net
Domain: www.myasainfo.com
Domain: fgst.lex-com.net
Port: 80 / 443
Note: The files which are downloaded are executables (except for ADD-ON data) therefore
problems may arise with anti-virus software.
Note for ASA ADD-ON users: To download country specific data, you need to register with
your account data in ASA.
