Pastor’s Message ~ Mensaje del Párroco: PERSEVERANCE Life would
be so much easier if Jesus were still walking the earth. Think of
the benefits. We would have proof that he lived, died, and rose
again. We really could get an answer to “What would Jesus do?” But
think of the temptations: “Lord, find me a job.” “Please cure my
friend.” We might neglect responsi-bilities to be with him. Jesus
commanded his disciples to proclaim the Good News. He promised the
Holy Spirit’s power to help them persevere and do extraor-dinary
things in his name. Then he returned to his place at God’s right
hand. At our baptism, we received the same power from on high as
the disciples, and were “clothed in Christ.” For us to persevere as
fol-lowers of Jesus we continually need the power of the Holy
Spirit. Let us set aside time each day, as the first disciples did,

PERSEVERANCIA La vida sería mucho más fácil si Jesús todavía
es-tuviera aquí en la tierra. Piensa en los beneficios que eso
traería. Tendríamos prueba de que él vivió, murió y resu-citó.
Tendríamos una respuesta cada vez que nos pre-guntáramos, “¿Qué es
lo que haría Jesús?” Pero piensa en las tentaciones: “Señor,
encuéntrame empleo”. “Por favor cura a mi amigo”. Desatenderíamos
nuestras res-ponsabilidades para estar con él. Jesús le encomendó a
sus discípulos proclamar la Buena Nueva, y les prometió que el
poder del Espíritu Santo les ayudaría a perseverar y a hacer cosas
extraordinarias en su nombre. Entonces regresó a tomar su lugar a
la derecha de Dios Padre. En nuestro bautismo recibimos el mismo

Gospel: Mark 16: 15-20 When most people think of a sign that
someone is a Christian, they do not usually picture someone
handling poisonous snakes. However, that is the most dramatic of
the signs listed by the inspired author of this ending for Mark's
Gospel. It may be an exaggeration in order to em-phasize that the
disciples will be able to do great things in the power of the
Spirit. What we can be sure of is that Jesus wants us to proclaim
the gospel to all people. To do so we use whatever gifts the Spirit
provides. This gospel ends with the disciples preaching
every-where. Their word is verified by the signs the ascended Lord
works through them. 1.) If you had to list five signs that showed
someone was a Christian, what would you say? 2.) What are some of
the signs by which people recog-nized who Jesus was?
Evangelio: Marco 16:15-20 Cuando la mayoría de la gente busca
una señal de que al-guien es cristiano, generalmente no piensa en
alguien que tiene en sus manos una serpiente venenosa. Sin embargo,

Collection: Catholic Communication Campaign Next week’s second
collection is for the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). This
collection responds to the national and local communications needs
of the Church. The collection is unique in that proceeds are split
equally between each participating diocese and the national office.
Dio-ceses use their share of the CCC col-lection to support local
communica-tion efforts such as televised Masses and diocesan
newspapers. On the na-tional level, CCC funds support the
development and production of a wide range of media initiatives
that are carried out by USCCB staff and grantee organizations. A
portion of the CCC’s national funds are also set aside for grants
to aid Catholic communication efforts in developing nations. Please

possible by the Catholic Communication Cam-paign PARISH MINISTRY
FAIR: The Church is having a Ministry Fair this weekend and again
on the weekend of June 6-7th after all the masses. Some 40 plus
Parish organizations will have repre-sentatives to answer your
questions and/or to help you in deciding how you could fulfill your
discipleship/stewardship sup-port. Tables will be set up in front
of Church. A Commitment Card and Organi-zations list will be handed
out after mass to parishioners to complete.

La parroquia tendrá su Feria de Minis-terios y Organizaciones
