Socialist Republic of Vietnam

The most popular and widely-recognized Vietnamese national costume is the Áo dài, which is worn nowadays mostly by women, although men do wear Áo dài on special occasions such as weddings and funerals. Áo dài is similar to the Chinese Qipao, consisting of a long gown with a slit on both sides, worn over silk pants.

The longyi is the Myanmar national dress worn by men as well as women. It is basically a piece of cloth sown into a cylindrical tube, slipped over the head by men and stepped into by the women and tucked in at the waist. Men and women however fasten their longyis at the waist in different ways. Men fold the garment into two panels and knot it neatly at waist level

Republic of Indonesia

A Kebaya is a traditional blouse-dress combination worn by women in Indonesia. It is sometimes made from sheer material and usually worn with a sarong or batik. Indonesian men generally wear sarongs (usually with a checkered pattern) in the home. In public, the sarong is worn only when attending Friday prayers at the mosque. For formal national occasions, the men wear batik shirts with trousers or teluk beskap, a combination of the Javanese jacket and sarong.

Republic of the Philippines

The barong Tagalog (or simply barong) is an embroidered formal garment of the Philippines. In Filipino culture it is a common wedding and formal attire, mostly for men but also for women. The balintawak is the traditional Filipino costume for women.The costume typically features a white or cream-coloured blouse with puffy-butterfly short sleeves.

The women's national costume is named the Chakri. It is made up of Thai silk. The dress includes a back-less and shoulder-less shirt, a ready-to-wear skirt with Na-nang ( a typical Thai cutting style on a center of a skirt), and a shawl which is made by organdy.The men's national costume is known as sue phraratchatan (royally bestowed shirt).

Kingom of Cambodia

The traditional Cambodian sampot is a woman's long skirt with a fold or pleat in the front, but some sampot styles actually look more like trousers. It is worn with a modest shirt or blouse. On special occasions women match the color of their sampot to the traditional color for that day. Cambodian men typically wear cotton or silk shirts with short or long sleeves. They wear cotton trousers as well.

Singapore does not really have its own national costume because there are 4 different main races which are the Chinese, Malay, Indian and the Eurasians. Each race has their own costumes.

Ambuyat is considered the most popular delicacy in Brunei. It is made from sago and eaten by dipping a serving in a hot and thick sauce called cacah. Ambuyat, in replacement of rice, is served with a minimum of three main and side dishes.

Malaysia Nasi Lemak is one of

Nem is one of Vietnam’s favourite dishes. It is very easy to prepare. Ingredients used for Nem comprise of lean minced pork, sea crabs or unshelled shrimps, mushroom , dried onion, duck eggs, pepper, salt and different kinds of seasoning. All are mixed thoroughly before being wrapped with transparent rice paper into small rolls. These rolls are then fried in boiling oil.

es Adobo is the most popular

Filipino dish.It can be made with either chicken or pork, but it is typically made with chicken. It is easily cooked by adding the pork and chicken to the pan. Then add 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, vinegar, paprika and the bay leaves. After that bring to a boil and cover and simmer for 30 minutes or when meat is tender. It is typically served with steamed white rice.

Tom Yum Goong (Thai Spicy Soup with Prawns) is the name given to a very popular Thai soup that is hot, spicy and sour. It is made with prawns. It gives a delicious and unusual taste of being hot whilst slightly sour. The basic ingredients are lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, fish sauce, red chillies, Thai chilli paste, lime juice, mushrooms and tomatoes.

Myanmar

Lahpet is a national dish of Myanmar. It is served traditionally in a shallow lacquer ware dish called lahpet ohk with a lid and divided into small compartments - pickled tea is laced with sesame oil in a central compartment surrounded, in their own compartments, by other ingredients namely crisp fried garlic, peas and peanuts, toasted sesame, crushed dried shrimp, preserved shredded ginger and fried shredded coconut.

The Simpor (Dillenia Suffruticosa) tree has large bright yellow petals and large leaves. When fully in bloom, the petals spreading out like an umbrella. The image of the Simpor flower is found on the Brunei one-dollar bank note. It is also widely used in Brunei in art design for traditional handicrafts. The Simpor is commonly found along the rivers in Brunei, especially the Temburong River, and also at swamp or white sand areas. Most parts of the tree have multiple uses, for instance, the treatment of wounds.

Simpor is the national flower of Brunei.

The Rumdul (Mitrella Mesnyi) bears a small yellowish-white flower with a single alternate leaf. The flower produces a distinctive fragrance which is prominent in the evening. Due to its attractive scent, the Khmer women had often been compared to the Rumdul flower during the ancient times. The Rumdul tree, which grows to a height of 8 -12 meters, can be seen almost everywhere in Cambodia, and is often planted as a decorative tree in public parks.

Rumdul is the national flower of Cambodia.

The Moon Orchid or Angrek bulan (Phalaenopsis Amabilis) is one of Indonesia’s three national flowers. The other two are Jasminum sambac and the Rafflesia arnoldii. The Moon Orchid is one of the longest blooming orchids. The inflorescence are branched and can last from two to six months before dropping. The Moon Orchid usually blooms two to three times a year once it has reached maturity. It thrives in moist temperature so it is widely found in the lowlands of Indonesia.

Champa is the national flower of Laos.

The Dok Champa (Plumeria) is the national flower and official symbol of Lao PDR. The waxy flower with a sweet scent can be found in many colors: red, yellow, pink and multiple pastels. The five-petaled Bunga raya (Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis) has been Malaysia’s national flower since 1960.
