SJA Lenten Journey: Head to Heart Head to Heart is the theme for our Lenten journey as a church family this year. This theme is intended to help us focus closely on our relationship with God between Ash Wednesday and Easter. As with any deep and meaningful relationship, communication is a key element; therefore, prayer will play a major role in this journey. Prayer is our means to commune with and grow in relationship with God. We ask that you set aside time to engage with our Lord and remember God's constant presence in our lives. To share ourselves with our Creator and listen for God's message to us takes discipline and intentional time in prayer. Starting today, we will provide support and inspiration for your journey in Sunday morning worship as well as throughout each week. You will receive daily prayer prompts on the SJA Facebook page, or you can see the entire weeks prompts if you click here in the eNews, and a printed version is available in the church lobby. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37 It's time for... Our annual SJA Coffee House This year it will be bigger and better. Why??????? #1 We will have it in the sanctuary. #2 There will be 10 to 20 short acts, by our members and by friends of members. There will be music, comedy, and the unexpected. #3 There will be coffee and coffee cake during intermission. #4 The MC of the event will be none other than our very own, Andy Goh. Admission to the Coffee House is a voluntary donation to benefit the Arlington Life Shelter. Items such as: coffee, coffee filters (8-12 cup), disposable coffee cups, coffee and the ever popular cash. Each donor will receive a voting ticket for the coffee cake competition. Thats right, you the audience will be the judge for the best cake. So tell family and friends to come out on out Saturday night, March 4th at 7:00 pm. Childcare is available but you must reserve a spot by March 1st - contact Keith Jones at 817-992-5760. Calling All Bakers! Presenting: SJA Coffee House Coffee Cake Cook-Off Are you a wiz in the kitchen, dig out your best recipe and get ready to bake. The Coffee House audience will be the judge of the very best coffee cake. Yes, there will be a trophy for the best cake. Samples of each cake will be available for all to partake during intermission. The cake with the most votes wins. Cakes are to be brought to the kitchen by 6:30 pm, the night of the Coffee House, March 4th. For more information contact Launa Virgo at 817- 975-9540. Occasion Worship: Millennial Genius! March 8th - Occasion Service and Dinner Join us for Dinner at 6:30 pm to enjoy: Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Baked Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Desert and Drinks Worship is at 7:00 pm. We will have music, a video message, and interactive discussion. Where are the opportunities for the church in the challenges and giftedness of the Millennial Generation? Security Enhancements Jeff Black, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, announced at all three services, that the church had suffered a break in and an attempt to break open the safe in the staff office. Unfortunately this wasnt the first incident, there were two prior instances of adolescent boys entering the church when it was closed and empty, using a code. Jeff announced that changes in our security procedures would be made, the first being the staff office being locked at all times other than working hours. Another change that the Trustees approved during the Feb. 21 meeting was in the practice and procedures involved in issuing and controlling the door codes. On March 6, 2017, every single code in our system will be deleted. In the future only staff, chair persons and designated leaders of worship groups will be issued recurring codes. They, in turn, can share their codes with the members of their respective groups. In addition, each of these chairs and leaders will be required to complete a request form (one time) to request a code. Recurring codes will be deleted and reissued quarterly. Event codes will continue to be issued as always, but a request form will be required for each event, to be submitted by the event coordinator. These codes will be deleted at the completion of each event. Request forms for recurring and event codes should be submitted to Theresa, our Facility Manager, for approval by Trustees. Forms are available now in the SJA hallway or you can access the form - just click here. The Trustees have the sincere desire to balance security for all of our staff and members with the least possible inconvenience, and while we all wish we didnt even have to lock our doors, circumstances have made these changes necessary. In Search of... Vacation Bible School is coming in June and we need a craft supply that you can donate. We need empty toilet paper rolls. There will be a box at the VBS table to collect any rolls you have. No Wacky Wednesday - March 1st Ash Wednesday Please join us, and the nursery is open. Also, we will not be March 8 & 15.
