Keeping an eye on your valuable systemsdigitallyKeeping an eye on your valuable systemsdigitally

With the opening of the electrical utility market, Sub-station

Automation or SCADA systems have now changed from

Luxury to Necessity. Exorbitant prices however have always

been a hurdle in implementing a SCADA scheme. But now

advancements in Electronics & Software field, coupled with

ASHIDA design has made it possible to implement a

sophisticated system to monitor & control a satellite substation

from a central location, without a high price-tag normally

associated with such systems. ASHIDA is not just a SCADA

System Integrator but a complete solution provider. The tight

integration of Ashida Software & Hardware modules has had

a definite impact on the overall quality & economy of the

    system.

In a simple ASCADA-SAS scheme, the ASCADA-SAS Software

communicates with FCCM modules installed on individual

bays. Various options are available for communication. All

such information collected from various modules is then

processed, recorded & presented to the user in easily

understandable formats. The user has an option to control

individual bays based on this data. Multiple such sub-stations

Hardware (FCCM) Features:> RTU/ Transducer-less operation. All parameters measured

by a single Intelligent Electronic Device.> Lifetime calibration of measuring circuit. No need for

frequent calibration.> High Thermal withstand capacity. All field instruments can

measure more than 100 Amps of current for 3 Sec.> In-built real-time clock enables time stamping of

parameters before storing.> Hardware ports supported include RS-485, Fiber-optic &

    Ethernet.> Protocols supported are IEC60870-5-103 & ASCADA

    proprietary.

Software Features> Intuitive GUI based software needs minimal training for

usage.> Onsite configuration of Mimic & report formats.

    ASCADA-SAS Substation Automation System

    Features of ASCADA-SAS system

    > Reports generated can be exported to standard office

formats.> Can support multiple sub-stations & clients.> Can support multiple party IED with IBC-103, DNP3 or

    MODBUS protocol.

System Features> High Performance at affordable prices.> Clean implementation. Very few wires need to be wired

around the sub-station.> System can work over wide range of communication

mediums.> Can be installed in incremental implementation.

Installation can start with small number of monitoring

points & later on can be expanded to increase the scope. All this by simply adding new modules.

can be monitored from a single location. The recorded data is

used to generate reports like Hourly logs, Energy audit reports,

Occurrence reports, Event Sequence report & various other

    analytical reports.

Further Ashida ASCADA integrates with protection relays/ IEDs

from various vendors, which support standard protocols to

provide additional protection data & powerful fault analysis. It

is possible to forward all parameters to a central control or to a

separate system like GIS. Additional client software can be

installed on a separate PC for analysis. For critical installations,

redundant server configuration is an option. The system can

also connect to a GPS timeserver for Time synchronisation

    between all IEDs.
