Management Projects as Chair of Civil Engineering
The following are some of the outcomes in an atmosphere of decling resourcses:
• 35-year (1981-2016) high undergraduate enrollment in AY 2009-10.
• The retention rate of the CE first year student from Fall 2012 to Fall 2013 was 81.9%.
• The faculty brought in more than two million dollars in FY 2012-13 (all-time high for the Department).
• The faculty spent more than $ 300,000 on graduate student assistantships from external funds during FY
2010-11 in the form of graduate assistantship (all-time high for the Department).
• 20% of our MS students in environmental area decided to go for PhD at Toledo or other schools in the
US/Canada during the last ten years (all-time high for the Department). Overall rate for the Department is
approaching to this number.
• Three faculty members received one of the COE awards for outstanding teaching, undergraduate research
mentoring, and research (2013, 2014).
• The Department is maintaining 4 to 5 graduate students per faculty during the last ten years.
• Fund raising for undergraduates labs from alumni: $ 37,000 (2016), in progress (2017).
• Assisted in attracting a large estate donation for the environmental program (2016).
• CE Depatrment received “Excellence in Assessment Award” for the MS in Civil Engineering from UAC
and UT Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Program Review (April 2017).
