To all Year 12 students,

Welcome to the ESF University Fair 2015! This event will benefit students; giving an opportunity to meet and discuss university courses and college life with over 140 universities and further education institutions from 16 countries.

Before the fair day, it is important that you identify the country(ies) you are considering for your tertiary education. Please make sure you are aware of the differences in the higher education systems of each country, including the differing application processes.

It is also a good idea to do preliminary research on the courses or universities you are interested in. We suggest that you consider a wide range of universities to match your expected achievements and areas of interest. Use your time at the fair to ask universities if they can suggest other courses that could also be suitable to you in light of subjects you currently enjoy and study. You can see the list of participants and the venues where they will be located in this guide – this is to help you plan to make the most of the time you will be at the Fair as 1.5 hours can go by very quickly.

Please do not simply collect brochures. Take away materials you think will be useful in making your decision. It is the conversations that matter in the context of the Fair. To help you consider what you would like to ask, we have included a list of questions on the back of the guide. You may wish to ask an alumni representative about important traditions at a university, or you may choose to get into details of modules covered in specific courses. All questions are valuable in your research process so please don’t be embarrassed to ask. The representatives are there to help you.

This fair is for you! ESF students are very privileged to have these universities come to our Fair so please make the most of it. Thank you to Island School for hosting this event year after year and bringing together a world of opportunity for all of you. Plan ahead! Use this as an opportunity to help you make informed decisions about your future.

Important Details

Location: The Fair will be at Island School, 20 Borrett Road, Hong Kong. Parents are most welcome.

Timing: Due to the number of students involved there will be three 1.5 hour slots. Students must attend in the allocated timeslot for their school. Timing is as follows:

• 1:30pm-3pm – Island School, South Island School, Discovery College • 2:30pm-4pm – Renaissance College and King George V School • 3:30pm-5pm – Sha Tin College and West Island School

Transport: Each school will arrange transport for students to and from the fair. Please follow the instructions from your school. Parents attending – please use public transport as there will be no parking available.

What to bring: This guide, your research and questions, something easily portable to take notes on (pen and paper, your phone or iPad etc).
