ASIAN INSTITUTE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION
The Bachelor of Sci-
ence in Business Admin-
istration program of the
Asian institute of Dis-
tance Education is one

In February 1985, the
Bureau of Higher Educa-
tion, the former Com-
mission on Higher Edu-
cation, which was then
under the Department
of Education Culture
and Sports (DECS), au-
thorized the institute to
offer BSBA major in
Management.
The other programs
allowed by DECS to be
offered by AIDE then
were Associate in Arts
and Bachelor of Arts pro-
gram with majors in Eng-
lish, Economics, History,
Sociology and Political
Science.

Last May 9, 2017,
the CHED issues Memo-
randum Order 24 s.
2017 otherwise known
as the Policies, Stand-
ards and Guidelines for
the Bachelor of Arts in
English Language and
Bachelor of Art in Eng-
lish Language Studies.
Just like other programs
or courses in higher edu-
cation, the objective for
the change is to shift to
learning competency-
based standards and
outcomes-based educa-
tion which is required
under CMO 46 series of
2012.
See page 5
CHED MEMO ORDER NO. 17 series of 2017 sets the new poli-
cies, standards and guidelines for the BSBA curriculum which
supersedes CHED MEMO ORDER NO, 39 s. 2006 and follows
CHED MEMO ORDER NO. 46 s. 2012 in pursuance of an out-
comes-based quality assurance system.
As the Philippine high-
er education transitions
to a different landscape,
specially now that the K-
12 program has been
fully subsumed to the
basic education curricu-
lum, with its first batch
to graduate in school
year 2018-2019, all
courses in college are
also undergoing chang-
es and revision. Apart
from the implementa-
tion of K-12, the need to
conform with an out-
comes-based quality
assurance system is al-
so among the reasons
for such change.
See Page 2

As stated in the said CMO, program is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the English language—its origin, growth and develop-
ment, structures, and use. Also, the program should enhance the student’s competencies in the use of the English language in real-world contexts
and to present appropriate strategies of language use through a heightened awareness of how English works in different situations in the Philip-
pines and in Asia and the rest of the world.
Bound to maintain the minimum standards of quality as prescribed by the CHED, the Asian Institute for Distance Education will adopt the above-
