Hello everyone, The third week in January was busy for the Illiana Section. First, the Illiana Section Election and Business meeting was held on Tuesday at Popolano’s in Lansing. Steve Schuelka presented the ASQ survey results. I want to stress the importance for the members to take the time to complete the ASQ surveys since they help the section board members to plan speakers and conferences that are meaningful and provide value. Treasurer, Lee Fadeley, spoke on the finances of the section. To the chapters regret, Renee Bell announced that she would be stepping down as Secretary. Don Herz, Nominating Committee Chair, requested that members who are interested in filling the secretary’ position or running for other positions on the board contact him. Next, the Quality Conference, Quality: The View from the “Inside” was held on Friday at Calumet College of St. Joseph. I would like to thank Calumet College, Dan Lowery, Diane Bailey, and all of the collegiate helpers for the wonderful job on this year’s conference. Dan and his staff spend many hours to give the members an enjoyable and educational conference. Speaker presentations from the conference will be posted on the website. Please make your reservation early for the next Illiana Dinner Meeting on February 16. We will be at Chef Klaus Bier Stube in Frankfort. Our speaker is Anthony Manos and he will be presenting Value Stream Mapping for Service. Don’t forget to visit our own Illiana website, www.asq-illiana.org, where job and training opportunities that that other sections and private organizations have sent to us. I know I speak for all of the Illiana Section board members when I say that we try very hard to return value to you and make your membership rewarding by providing good places to eat, good programs, a special tour, and even some books and gifts as appropriate. Remember that you need to attend five general section meetings in order to qualify for the end of the year gift. Have a good day, Kim Bernas Section Chair
