VACUUM PUMP
Upgrade Vacuum Pump
SERVICE PAGE A 2 ASSEMBLY
Remove the tubings, capacitor, capaci-tor bracket, fan and the connection terminal, then turn the Vacuum Pump Head 90° to the left according to Fig. 1.
Fig.1. The con-nection terminal removed and Vacuum Pump Head turned 90° to the left.
Upgrade of an existing Vacuum Pump to achieve a more effi cient cooling of the Vacuum Pump is done as described in the section below.
The two holes encircled in Fig. 2 shall be tapped with a M4 thread tap. This is where the connection terminal holder shall be fi tted with two M4X8 screws.
Fig.2. The two holes encircled where the con-nection terminal shall be fi tted.
The two metal plates shall be assembled on the Fan with four M4X10 screws be-fore the Fan is fi tted onto the instrument chassis. Also the cable support is shown encircled in the picture. Fig. 3.
Fig.3. The two metal plates and cable support fi tted on the Fan.

SERVICE PAGE A 3 ASSEMBLY
The connection terminal holder shall be mounted to the Vacuum Pump body (where you tapped the two M4 holes) us-ing two M4X8 screws (not shown in the picture) before the connection terminal is mounted on the terminal holder (use the existing screws). The rubber grom-met (encircled) protects the cables from chafi ng against the Fan mounting plate. Fig. 4.
Mount the spacers and vibration dampers (see Fig. 6) to the plate with four M6X16 allen screws to make space for the Vac-uum Pump Fan, then tighten the screws. Then fi t the Vacuum Pump to the plate. Slide the rubber grommet into the slot in the mounting plate to protect the cables. Fig. 5. Assemble the Vacuum Pump into the instrument and connect the tubings to the Valve Plate. NOTE! The tubing clamp included in the Vacuum Pump Upgrade Kit, 12-3505-88 is for connecting the tubing to the pressure sensor on the Valve Interconnection Board.
Fig. 6 shows the position of the spacer ring (encircled in the lower right corner), and vibration damper (encircled in the lower left corner). The muffl ers are strapped to each side of the Vacuum Pump Fan by means of cable straps as pointed out in the lower left corner of the picture.
Remove and replace the M6 screw that holds the upper and lower chassis parts together (encircled). Push the control cable through the hole where the tubings are routed. Fit the Capacitor Unit in the empty space in the back of the instrument as shown in fi g. 7. Connect the control cable to connector JP 30 on the Valve Interconnection Board. The other end of the control cable is connected to J1 on the Capacitor Interconnection Board. The other cables are connected as described in the table on page A4.

SERVICE PAGE A 4 ASSEMBLY
After having the Vacuum Pump replaced, or the Vacuum Pump Upgrade Kit assembled, perform a Pressure and Vacuum Test 6.8.2.10.3, and 6.8.2.10.8 followed by 6.8.2.10.9. Follow the instructions in the Service Manual chap-ter 2, Test Programs.
To the right is a table describing where the cables and connectors on the Capaci-tor Unit and Vacuum Pump are supposed to be connected. On the next page you fi nd the schematics over the Capacitor Interconnection Board.
60-0401-04
Cover the Capacitor Unit with the cover plate (pointed out in Fig. 8) included in the Vacuum Pump Upgrade Kit. Use the existing screws holding the Rear Panel. NOTE! This is only necessary on instru-ments with S/N<1200.

SERVICE PAGE A 6 ASSEMBLY
VALVE INTERCONNECTION BOARD (See ImmunoCAP 100 Service Manual chapter 2 Assembly)
Replace Board
REMOVE FRONT COVER (See ImmunoCAP 100 Service Manual chapter 2 Assembly).
The new Valve Interconnection Board contains the Level Detection circuit, and also the connector for the control cable to the Capacitor Unit for the Vacuum Pump. See fi g. 1.
Fig.1. The Valve Interconnection Board with the connector JP30 encircled.
When having the Valve Interconnection Board replaced, there should also be a ferrite core (included in the Upgrade Kit 12-3505-88 and Valve Interconnec-tion Board 12-3500-28)) attached to the Pipette cable 5 mm from the back rim of the Pipette Holder Arm. See fi g. 2.
After having the Valve Interconnection Board replaced, perform a Pipette Level Sense Test 6.8.2.13.13. Follow the instructions in the Service Manual chapter 2, Test Programs. NOTE! It is recommended to use the latest version of Pipette (12-3505-28) together with the new Valve Interconnection Board. The value printed in the Service Manual regarding the depth the Pipette goes down into the liquid, has been changed to 0.5-0.9 mm. This will also be changed in the Service Manual.
Fig.2. The Pipette cable with the ferrite core attached 5 mm from the back rim of the Pipette Holder Arm.

SERVICE PAGE A 7 ASSEMBLY
In those cases where only the Vacuum Pump is replaced or updated, and the Valve Interconnection Board is not re-placed, a Splitter Cable is used. See fi g. 3. The Splitter Cable is used in conjunc-tion with the old Valve Interconnection Board without the level detection circuit on it. The Valve control cable connected to JP28 is removed, and the Splitter Cable is inserted into JP28. Then the previously removed Valve control cable and the Start Capacitor control cable to the Capacitor Interconnection Board are connected in the Splitter cable connec-tors. The Splitter Cable is not used in conjunction with the new Valve Inter-connection Board.
