Assessment Timeline for Fitnessgram/Brockport

Time Line Required by ISBE Recommended September/October Administer Pre-Test of

Fitnessgram or Brockport

February/March Administer

Fitnessgram/Brockport 2nd Semester.

Administer Fitnessgram/Brockport

2nd Semester.

April Report scores to administrators no later

than April 1st.

May 1st Program Administrators must

submit information to ISBE by May 1st.

Fitnessgram 101

1) Schools shall administer fitnessgram for grades 3-12 during 2nd semester. However a pre-test is recommended.

2) You must do the following tests: Aerobic Capacity: Pacer Flexibility: Back Saver Sit and Reach Muscular Endurance: Curl up Test Muscular Strength: Push up Test

3) Only aggregated data (NOT individual scores) will be reported for students in Grades 5, 7 & 10.

4) You must report this data to ISBE by May 1st.

5) You need to participate in training related to proper administration and scoring of the fitness gram test. When report data: 1) Total # of students tested by grade and gender. 2) Total # of students achieving “Healthy Fitness Zone” by grade and gender. 3) Total # of students achieving “Needs Improvement Zone” by grade and gender.

Flexibility

Modified Apley Test: Use for all but C2L. Modified Thomas Test: use only for C5-C8. Or TST (Target Stretch Test): C1, C2U, C2L, C3-C4.

TST: Optional for C5-C8

Muscular Endurance/Strength

Seated Push Up: C2U, C3, C4, C6 40M Wheelchair Push: C2U, C2L (optional for C3). 40M walk: C6 Dumbbell Press (ages 13-17): C7-C8. Wheelchair Ramp Test: C3

Dominant Grip Strength: C3, C4, C5 Dumbbell Press: C3-C5.
