Blog 1: Jay’s Story in the past

For me, the saddest moment in my life when I failed the university entrance exam two years ago. My

parents hope I can pass to study in a good university. However, I did not have any future plan and

lazy to study. Thus, I choose a university with high score but I done my exam with bad grade. At that

moment I saw my father's face showed the disappointed about my result. That moment I'm so bad

because it also hurt my parents. Although, I broke the promise with my father but he give me another

change. After that, I know about Sunderland program in Danang from friend of my father. Then, my

father advise me to study in this program that help me change my life. From the beginning, it

is difficult for me because I very bad at English and afraid that I will failure again. However, my

father support to me and I made promise to myself that no matter what happens I will study very hard

for my life. As the result, I am third student in Sunderland program and next year I will study in UK.

Now, look back upon the difficult time, I learn a lot of things about life. My father always trust me

although I hurt him so bad. He teach me that I need to make own decision about my life and never

give up. For me, he is the biggest idol that inspire me.

Blog 2: Kendrick Lamar – My Super Hero

People have a lot of important things in their life. For me, music like oxygen to me then I cannot

live without it. Because it help me to deal the stress and pressure from study and life. My favorite

artist all the time is Kendrick Lamar - one of the greatest rapper in the world. He is a serious

talented young artist who inspired me a lot. His music is special and raps about more interesting

things that people can take with their life. Kendrick grew up in Compton California as known as

one of the darkest place of violence in States with high crime rates and gangster. However, this

environment teach him a lot thing about life then he can tell amazing story just using words. He

just want the world know he is a positive and talented person who can contribute to society.

Therefore, I can listen to his music all day especially the track with title "I" because the meaning

of lyrics is so awesome. I learned a useful lesson from this track. He is not a rapper, he is author

and writer. You will know how to love other when you love yourself first.

Blog 3: The Benefit of Video Games in The Life

With the rapid development of technology, many people enjoy playing computer games as an

important part of life. Some people worry about video games bring the negative effect on

people's life especially violent behavior. However, I will share some my opinion about this topic.

According to the research of American Psychologist, the video game has the educational benefit

that help improve people's learning and social skills. Playing video games can help people

develop the problem-solving skills. Children's creativity was also enhanced by playing any kind

of video game, including violent games. The simple games can be played quickly and easily,

such as "Angry Birds," Flappy Bird can improve the players' moods, promote relaxation and

ward off anxiety. When playing video games simply, it will makes people happier and relax after

work and study. The video games are also an effective tools for learning resilience in the face of

failure. By learning to cope with ongoing failures in games, it suggest that children build

emotional resilience they can rely upon in their everyday lives.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the possible benefits of video games are more significant than

potential dangers.

Blog 4: My Best Friend Forever

In the modern life, there are many valuable things for people but the friendship is one of the most

important one. People have the trend to look for different characteristics in friends or the

common interest, it is the best way to build a friendship. Good friend is a great present that many

people wish. They are always be there to support and help you no matter what. For me, I am a

lucky guys when I have a best friend forever. We have known each other most and always share

the daily life. Although we cannot meet together because I live in Danang and she lives in Ho

Chi Minh City but we still keep in touch in three years. I still remember the first time we met in

secondary school. She make me impress because she so pretty and kind. I just want to make

friend with her then I try to say my name. Unfortunately, I did not have any change to approach

her. After that, I ask my friend her Yahoo account then we start talking in social network. I was

very happy when I find out she also have common interest about music. Our conversation start

flowing easier and interested. We hang out together next time and have a lot of beautiful

memories. Seven years pass, we still the best friend although sometimes we have conflict but we

know how to deal with it. As you know when people grown up, it become harder to make a new

friend. Therefore, I think I can never meet a friend better than her. Looking back it is hard to

think how much important of my best friend and I love her so much from my heart.

Blog 5: Study in Abroad Country

Now, I am a student of Center for International Education so I have plan to study in abroad. It is

a really difficult challenge for me. However, I really excited to follow my dream that one day I

can come to UK and do whatever I want. I can meet many new friends around the world and

learn their culture and language. In addition, I can set the plan to travel in Europe and discovery

a lot of things that I never heard before. Moreover, I will study in the modern environment where

I can approach the newest knowledge. It is valuable experience to help me improve my skills

then I can get the better career. Besides the advantages of studying in foreign country, I will also

face a lot of problems. Firstly, my family will spend a lot of money to support me begin study in

UK. Therefore, I must study hard to repay my parents for what they have done for me. It is the

most motivation to help me make my dream come true. In addition, I must learn how to take care

of oneself and deal with the stress and pressure. It is a great opportunity for me to become better

men. It is the greatest challenge I ever do.

Blog 6: Good Movie to Watch in Weekend

“The Mummy Return” is and always my favorite movie all the time because it is the important

part of my childhood. It is a classic adventure film directed by famous director Stephen

Sommers. The movie is set in America and the main character is Rick O’Conner who act an

archaeologist in Egypt. The story begins when Rick and his wife are discovering an old artifacts

along with their son Alex. After that, they find out a special bracelet. However, an ancient

Egyptian priest named Imhotep has been brought back from the hell and want to get the bracelet

to control the Scorpion King‘s army to run the world. This is not the only problem because

Imhotep also kidnap Alex with the bracelet attached to him. In order to save the world and his

son, Rick set the plan to kills Imhotep. In spite of the fact that the movie is now more than ten

years old, it is still the best movie for all. The special effect are very good and detail that make

me enjoy very well. The actors were goods and show the different characters to help viewer

understand their roles in movies. If you did not watch the movie before, I strongly recommend

that you should watch it immediately.

Blog 7: Student Should Study or Work

When student graduated school, they will face the dilemma of whether to get a job or continue

education. While there are some benefits to getting a job straight after school, I think it is better

to go to college or university.

The option to start work straight after school is attractive for several reasons. Many young people

want to start earning money as soon as possible. In this way, they can become independent, and

they will be able to afford their own house or start a family. In terms of their career, young

people who decide to find work, rather than continue their studies, may progress more quickly.

They will have the chance to gain real experience and learn practical skills related to their chosen

profession. This may lead to promotions and a successful career.

On the other hand, I believe that it is more beneficial for students to continue their studies.

Firstly, academic qualifications are required in many professions. For example, it is impossible

to become a doctor, teacher or lawyer without having the relevant degree. As a result, university

graduates have access to more and better job opportunities, and they tend to earn higher salaries

than those with fewer qualifications. Secondly, the job market is becoming increasingly

competitive, and sometimes there are hundreds of applicants for one position in a company.

Young people who do not have qualifications from a university or college will not be able to

compete. For the reasons mentioned above, it seems to me that students are more likely to be

successful in their careers if they continue their studies beyond school level.

Blog 8: BDM Assignment

Yesterday, I felt very tired because I had had 2 days doing and editing “BDM” assignment 1

while practice for DECATHLON 2014. At that time, I think it was so bad because I had not

concentrated much on the BDM lectures before. It really wasted my time and effort to go to class

and did nothing but dreaming. How would my parents feel if they knew that I was not active

during classes? Moreover, I would not have enough knowledge to do the assignment if I kept

studying like this. Therefore, I felt sad and disappointed with myself. At first, I thought I could

not finish that BDM assignment in time because I had not had a really good knowledge about

this subject. Therefore, I thought I had better review all the information from the course book

and from other references. Moreover, I thought I had better be active in BDM lectures and would

not waste more time in dreaming during the class.

As what I had thought, I tried a lot to ask the lecturer about the good books which I could use as

the references for the assignment. I asked my friends about BDM information that I did not

understand. Fortunately, all of them were enthusiastic to help me with this subject. Finally, I

expressed my ideas so that the teacher could know what I was thinking. Although my tendencies

for this subject were very clear, I still met some problems. For example, because I was trying a

lot to review all of the information given in the course book, and my classmate helped me a lot to

understand all of which I had not understood, I still found it difficult to understand all. Therefore,

I sometimes felt exhausted. However, I was bravely talking to my lecturer about my ideas, and

he gave me some useful advices which helped me a lot to do the second assignment.

After this situation, I thought I had better have a good time table so that I can put everything on

the right track. Secondly, I need to be active. I also need thinking before raise my ideas. It helps

my class not waste time and makes my speech more interesting. It is the first day of the week; I

hope everything will be okay.

Blog 9: DECATHLON 2014

Today is the last day of 2014, it is a good time for me to throwback what happened in the past.

Last month is one of the best time when I take part in the Decathlon Competition which

organized by Centre for International Education. It is a great competition that make a lot of

beautiful memories and best moment. In order to get the highest result in competition, my class

prepare and practice very hard. For me, I take part in cheerleading team that the first game. This

sport is very dangerous that required a lot of skills and safety. All member got hurt and tired

during practice. Our team is also got the conflict between some member and under high pressure.

However, these factors did not discourage my team and we try so hard to achieve the main target

is get to the top in the competition. Our leader is Calvin manage team is very well and he always

encourage team member. It is a valuable experience to help me improve myself become better.

In the past, I am very lazy to do exercise but this competition give me a great opportunity to

change my health. Finally, I am glad to see that our team effort have been reward by first

position. I do not have word to describe my feeling at this time but this moment I never forget. I

just want to say WE ARE CHAMPION.

These skills could be gained from previous jobs, projects, voluntary work, sport, home life,

TASK 4: INTERPERSONAL AND TRANSFERABLE SKILLSDECATHLON is an extra co-curricular activity designed the Center for International Education

(CIE) for all student in December 2014. It is a sports competition where 4 class will be

competing to win the DECATHLON CUP. It is like the “mini- Olympic games” of the center

was held by two years.

SOLUTIONS TO WORK-BASED PROBLEMS

During time to prepare Decathlon 2014, our class divided many group to practice for ten sports.

All member must join at least one team for DECALTLON. Therefore, our class will faced a lot

of problems before the event begin. The problem could be internal and external.

Internal Problem: Conflict with other team member, money problem, lack of responsibilities

The first problem is member of cheerleading team always lack of responsibility to practice.

Some people always go to practice late and it effect on the overall performance of team. This is

the reason why our leader Calvin need to provide some strict rules to increase the responsibility

and performance for each member. He told us if someone go to place of practice late, he or she

will have to pay a fines. If they continue do not follow the rules, they will be punished. The

punishment was more severe depend on their effect on performance of team. After applying the

strict rules, members are more cognizant of their responsibility and practice harder to achieve the

highest result of DECALTLON.

The second problem is about our fund. In order to prepare for DECATHLON, the cost is high so

we need to raise a fund for it. However, some classmates do not want to spend too much money

for this activity. Therefore, it is difficult for our class have enough money to pay a lot of cost

such as cost of special uniform, practice fees, salary for cheerleading’s coach and so on. Our

monitor is William organize a group’s discuss to encourage classmate try to take part in the

DECATHLON. Because this event is very important for us and member need to contribute to a

class’s fund.

External Problems: There are some problem outside organization that our class meet to prepare

for DUE DECATHLON 2014.

One of our problem when we design a special uniform for DECATHLON 2014. In order to solve

this problem, I will analyze the solution of this problem by using six thinking hats method.

Blue Hat

Firstly, discuss with all classmate to collect ideas about color, design

and size of uniform. Then, brainstorming some best ideas to talk with

clothes supplier.

White HatCollect data about size of each classmates and lecturers. After that,

ask clothes’ supplier about price and cost of design for uniform.

Green Hat

Designing some special items for uniform such as logo, hats to make

special.

Suggest a cute image to make people feel comfortable and fun

Yellow Hat

Contact with other supplier quickly when the first supplier cannot

meet requirement. Ensure the quality of uniform is good and

comfortable

Red HatWorry about the design and color of uniform and happy when receive

the uniform from supplier.

Black HatThe cost of uniform may is high. Because of the delay of supplier so

my class cannot receive uniform on time.

Other our external problem is we do not have place to practice for DECATHLON. We often

practice cheerleading in the university yard but sometime they don’t let us practice because it so

noise and effect on other local course. DECATHLON organized in December when local student

have a final test so it is difficult for us to practice. This is the reason why our class as Dr. Doan

Ngoc Phi Anh for using and practicing in the university sport hall. Moreover, someday the

weather is so bad that affect us and it make some member get sick and tired. It will decrease the

overall performance and the time of practice is too short.

We have a lot of communication styles during the DECATHLON event. There are some method

we always use to work together include memorandum, business letter, Facebook and so on.

Communication on Facebook

Facebook is the easy way for our class communicate and discuss about the DECATHLON. This

is the result when San discuss with designer of clothes supplier. After that she post on our

facebook to receive the idea of member. Because our class want to make a special uniform with

highest quality so the process take a lot of time and efforts. This uniform meet our requirements

and very comfortable to wear. Therefore, we can perform the highest performance.

TIME MANAGEMENT FOR DECATHLON 2014

There are many effective time management strategies that could be summarized as goal setting,

planning, prioritizing, and decision-making, delegating, and scheduling. Firstly, goal setting

strategy will support people manage personal plan effectively. In fact, the goal setting and

planning has close relationship when planning will manage the time. The next characteristic is

prioritizing, I can identify what work and task is urgent and important need to do. Then the

priority should be given to top of list. In addition, past and correct decision making is one of the

characteristics of effective time management. It will bring down the unnecessary cost involved

with operation. Further, delegating is important. Not all work can be done by myself. They have

to delegate certain work to others. By doing that managers can save time. Finally, scheduling is a

good time management strategy. In scheduling, all work has to be prior scheduled and specific

times should be given. Using and developing time management strategies is a long process such

as a journey that may begin with some guide from anywhere, but needs to do practice and other

guidance in each time of period. A clear goal is very important and necessary that help to

become aware of using time as one resource of organization, prioritizing and succeeding in

studies, life, etc...in the context of competing activities of friends, work, family, etc... In using

time management strategies I will follow some factors to make suitable and effective strategies

that includes. This time management table shows how I assign my tasks to prepare DECATLON

2014.

There are many assignments and works that I have to do at this month, so that I use this time

management to control all my tasks and save my time effectively. I arranged my time to assign

the task into many parts that can help me achieve the overall mission .Besides prepare for

DECATLON, I also make my assignment and take part in all outsides of subjects such as

Business Dinning Etiquette at Premier Village Danang Resort. This activities will effect on the

practice time for cheerleading team. Therefore, our team must arrange the suitable time for all

member.

Blocks of study time and breaks: Write down the best time block you can study such as place

blocks of time when you are most productive as morning person or night owl. How long using

this time of most productive? What makes for a good break for you? Can you control the activity

and return to your studies? For example: Shorten study blocks if necessary-but don't forget to

ensure the quality of task

Dedicated study spaces: What is the best study place you can think of? What is another? It mean

that I need to determine a place helping for maximize concentration and be free of the disturbing

Weekly reviews: What is the best time in a week you can review? Weekly reviews and updates

are also an important strategy that helps to following the goals and making suitable process

evaluating the result and quality of strategies.

Prioritize your assignments What subject has always caused you problems? Determine them and

focus on clear as well as possible

Identify resources what I have and using outside resources effectively. Time management

strategies is very valuable because it will help me do my task more efficiently and creating a

simple "To Do" list. The long-term and short-term plan should also be guaranteed accurate. For

example: I always have personal timetable, the list to do will helps me not forget my work such

as practice cheerleading, do presentation. Using good management, arrangement of work, save

and control the process workflow. Following what have notices that help me to control the

process and evaluate the result effectively.

CONCLUSIONThe first step of professional development is to understand a clear career path. For individual the

personal development plan is essential to set future career development. It will identify the

internal strengths and weaknesses to develop myself.
