In 2011 I was called by God to join the JHOR team. I have learned several important things here. I have learned that life must be lived by faith. During the time spent at JHOR with my fellow team workers, among the young men and the children from the Onesimus Brothers, among the old people we take a hot meal to daily, I have witnessed on several occasions the miracle of what it means to live by faith. God has given me time aſter time the grace of seeing how He provides all the necessary resources for those we look aſter day by day, through our association’s projects. I have learned that when we work as a team we are stronger and wiser. Even though every member of our team is unique and each of us is excellent in a particular field, when we serve together, we are a great team. I have learned that if we strive to achieve great things for God, we must be willing to sacrifice. Being superficial, lacking interest and looking only aſter one’s own comfort are traits that have never brought glory to God. On the other hand, enthusiasm and dedication for the fulfillment of the will of God have always led to success in the ministry. I have also learned that God is calling us to be quick to keep our hearts open to the needs of others and to be slow in applying judgement. Quite oſten, the lives of the people we serve fall short of the standard of what we call typical, normal lives. Confronted with shattered, hopeless lives, we are called by God to roll up our sleeves and heal the bleeding wounds. Our words, our attitude, our resources can save a life. ere is no time for empty chatter. ere is only time for serving. e good samaritan’s parable applies to us today, as well. Our neighbor needs us. His needs are many and they produce a lot of pain! Our duty is to look around us and find the ones who need our help. On seeing the suffering of the people around me, I felt ashamed for thinking that my suffering was so important. I am thankful to God for offering me the chance to gaze into and to understand better the universe of the fatherless children, the needy and abandoned old people, the young AIDS patients who await the moment of their passing from this world – and to be transformed. I have been transformed into a man who is aware of the fact that I live in a world that cries with pain, lost in sin. But I have also come to know that God wants to use me in order to work in the lives of my fellow men and that the evil can be conquered by the love of God. I have come to know that God is love and when a person comes to know Him and His redemption, they come to love. Vladimir Pop – JHOR team member

Ten years of Eclesia, ten years of Bethany

By the grace of God, in October we are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Eclesia Baptist Church from Timisoara. We have had ten years of grace and mercy. It’s been ten years since the late Rev. Peter Dugulescu had the vision of planting a new church in a cinema hall. This place has become a gate towards heaven for many sinners. The Eclesia Church is a place where miracles happen, despite all the trials and all the attacks coming from the evil one. Just like Noah’s Ark had always stayed above the heavy waves, the Eclesia Church has been carried by God through storms. The Creator of all things allowed our church to be a haven of mercy. He is also the One who has made it possible for us to pay the monthly rent of 500 euro so far. We are also grateful to all the people who have been by our side during these ten years, by praying or offering us financial support. We thank God for the Bethany Home in Hateg, as well – an oasis of peace and quiet, a shelter for lonely old people and disadvantaged deserted young girls. We

are especially thankful to God for friends like Howard Schmidt and his family. They have been supporting the JHOR ministry in Hateg for ten years now. We ask you to continue to pray for these projects, as well as for the other projects of JHOR.

The JHOR family has gotten bigger

The JHOR family has gotten bigger with the arrival of Marius & Dana Balan at the “Onesimus Brothers” Home. They are parents to the seven new children we have brought in from the emergency center for abandoned children. Three of the children, Cristian, Andrei and Melisa come from a single parent family and the mother was no longer able to care for them. They lived in a village not far away from Timisoara, with three more cousins and often they had no food on the table. The social workers from the town hall made the necessary arrangements so that they would be taken in by an orphanage. For a while, all six of them lived at “Onesimus Brothers” but three of them were later adopted by a family. It was painful for them to part. The three children who are now being raised by the Balan family are sometimes visited by their mother, who is saddened by the fact that she cannot raise them herself. However, she finds comfort in the fact that her children are well taken care of, educated and surrounded by a lot of love.In the course of the next few days, four more siblings will arrive at “Onesimus Brothers.” Their parents got divorced and the children were being pushed from one parent to another for food, shelter and clothes but, most of the time, they just starved. One day, when they could no longer go on without something to eat, the oldest girl, who is eleven, asked the policeman from the

village to take them somewhere where they could get some food. This is how they got to the emergency center for children and then, the “Onesimus Brothers” Home. “We took in these children by faith alone, since right now we have no sponsors for them. We believe that our God is a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows and we know that He will stand by the promise made in Psalm 68:5-6 and will place the lonely in families and look out for them. Marius and Dana offer all their love and emotional support to these children and we believe that, with the help of God, we will be able to provide for their material needs as well. At the beginning of the school year, we had no supplies for the children who were about to start school but now we look back with gratitude and thank God and the family of Rev. Ilie Tomuta, who sent us all the necessary supplies. We admire the faithfulness of those who make sure that not only their own children but also the orphans get the things which they need for a good life.I want to ask all of you reading these lines to help our children by buying a sandwich for one of them. Offering something to eat to a hungry child should not be a hard thing to do for any of us. If you would like to help, come and be our partner in the JHOR ministry of love,” says Laurentiu Timis, the Executive Director of JHOR.

A family will get to stay warm at winter time

In the Plopi neighborhood there is a family of eight children, raised by a single suffering mother. They all live in one room. Since they had no wood left, during the day the children would go outside to get wood chips for the fire, so that they could heat up the food received from “Jesus the Hope of Romania” through the Manna project. Having heard about their situation, we felt led by God to buy enough wood for them to last all winter and keep them warm.I firmly believe that God is the One who will provide the necessary resources so that we can keep on doing what is GOOD. John, the apostle of love, said that “he who does good is of God.” God said, through James, that “faith without deeds is useless” and I am grateful to the Almighty One for the gift of faith. Also, in James 2:22, it is said that “faith and actions work together.” Therefore, “God has already prepared in advance good works for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).Do you believe that God has prepared good works for you to do?Do them and you will see the greatness of God!

Pastor Laurentiu Timis – Executive Director of JHOR

On November 18th, on Peter Dugulescu’s birthday, The Evangelistic and Charitable Association “

Jesus the Hope of Romania” will organize the annual A Day for Charity event.

We plan to have an unforgettable evening, filled with many surprises and an auction.

Our prayer is that God would touch the hearts of those present and this event will inspire those present to heed the

call of helping those who go through difficult times.
