A Note from the Pastor

Late last week, we received the news from the Diocese & the

Ohio Conference of Catholic Bishops that while we would still be

working towards resuming the public celebration of Mass on the

weekend of Pentecost, May 30th/31st, we would be working

towards a soft opening of public Mass on weekdays earlier in

May! As of “press time” I don’t have an exact specific date that

we will be able to resume public Mass, but as we move towards

that date, I believe that there are a few important details that all of

us must keep in mind.

First, is that this will be new to all of us, both me & you.

While we’ve all been to public Mass, there will certainly be some

changes & adjustments that need to be made upon our return in

order to keep all of us as safe & as healthy as possible. Early this

week, I received the guidelines from the Diocese regarding our

return to public Mass. I am working with some of our parish

leaders to interpret these guidelines & to figure out what they will

look like in our particular parish settings. I will be providing you

more details about this as soon as possible (possibly before you

even read this article.)

Above all, please be patient with one another! We do not need

to turn into the “corona police,” going through the Church looking

for people who are not “following the rules.” These changes will

require adjustments on all of our parts. We might need to adjust

where we sit, how we interact with each other, how we come

forward to receive Communion, there will be some definite

challenges involved as we move forward. Some of the guidelines

may be ones we agree with & others maybe not so much. Let’s

all be patient & understanding with one another ,remember in the

Body of Christ it’s about “we” not “me”! For those who are in

high risk groups & those who may not yet feel comfortable

returning to public Mass just yet, that is perfectly fine. For the

time being, we will continue to make the live stream of Mass

available as we have during this time.

We will also need to make some adjustments to our parishes

calendars for the summer. Our annual parish picnics will NOT be

happening this summer. We are looking at the possibilities of

either having something in the fall or waiting until next summer,

more details on those will be coming later as we figure things

out. Looking forward to seeing you again at Mass! Have a

blessed week!

Never permit me to be separated from

You. Amen .

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER MAY 17, 2020

For Peace in Anxiety

During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Loving God,

we come to you full of anxiety about what may happen in

the coming days and weeks. Shower us with the peace Jesus

promised to his disciples, and make us into steady pillars

for those around us.

In this time of uncertainty and epidemic, wake us up

to the reminder that we are not alone.

Even as we are asked to keep our distance from others,

help us to find ways to reach out to those who need

our support. We pray especially for those whose incomes

and livelihoods are threatened. For the children who will

miss meals due to school closures.

For those already isolated, lonely and scared.

Loving God, give them your peace, and through our hands

ensure they have what they need.

Sustain, strengthen and protect all caregivers.

Bless them as they offer compassionate care and

show selfless courage in the face of risk.

Remind us, each time we wash our hands, that in our bap-

tism you call us to let go of our fears

and live in joy, peace, and hope. Amen.
